Hi. Having some odd and possibly serious issues with my 99 v plate 406. Driving home from work on Tuesday, the engine started juddering horribly and backfiring. 16v petrol. The Haynes manual suggest spraying a few electrical areas with WD40 such as the battery terminals, the fuse box and the alternator. I'm not mechanically inept, but I don't know much about engine specifics. No problems with service, but this is a little beyond me.

Problem Starting

Morning! I've a V reg 99 406 2.0 LX that I've not run for a month or so. Just thinking about putting it back on the road, so I've charged the battery up lovely, popped it back under the hood, but the car's not starting. It's turning over fine, there's no emulsification in the oil. It just won't pick...
