Re: T Reg HDi 90 estate - Breaking
I managed to put a horrible scrape on my steering wheel centre this weekend changing my interior. What sort of condition is the driver side airbag in & how much would you want to post it? 2 torx screws which are accessed from behind the wheel to remove it - fairly easy job. Never really looked, but...

Re: Back again, car terminal PARTS ANYONE?
200,000 miles and a susoect pulley somewhere else on the serpentine belt coupled with SWIMBO wanting 7 seats means that she has to go!

T Reg HDi 90 estate - Breaking
Well the old girl has finally hung up her boots and is going to the great roadway in the sky next week. The sump has cracked and thus the engine is probably toast. If anyone needs any parts then let me know, no reasonable offer refused (as long as I can get the parts off reasonably easily), and I'll...

Re: Back again, car terminal PARTS ANYONE?
Well I got into her this morning and noticed the rainbow colour on the road of an oil leak. Que the ramps and a look underneath, and the compressor is ok but the sump has cracked and the oil was the entire contents of the engine! So she is now being stripped of personal possessions and will be going...

Re: Back again and more advice required.
Clearly the compressor is under tension when fitted, you need to be sure there is no tension anywhere when another is fitted. If you are not going to fit another one and want to fit a shorter belt, do this..... Undo the tension from the belt and lock the tensioner in its "off" position (allen key o...

Re: Back again and more advice required.
The alignment should have been correct, it did cover over 40,000 miles before it ate the first one. I did check that the compressor lined up, at least visually, when I fitted it. as normal there was the easy obvious way where all the bolts were accessable and fitting was easy and there was the diffi...

Back again, car terminal PARTS ANYONE?
Hello all again and I'm back for a little more advice! :D So all has been fine after the engine conversion, except a very noisy top end so it sounds like a tractor, but in the last two weeks it has eaten two AC compressors! The first time, I noticed, was in a car park when I started the car and the ...

Re: Help - Stuck Strut!
Car had a nasty judder for a couple of miles but is now running reasonably smoothly. There is a nice klonk most bumps but not corners so I think that the drop links did not tighten quite enough,as the allen key holes are all knackered, and so the noise is the ball joints moving. New ones are only £1...

Re: Help - Stuck Strut!
I have three spiring compressors and had to compress the spring, put it in a vice and secure it then undo the compresser and refit including another coil! Tighten and repeat as necessary. All back together now but I have to re-fill the gearbox oil as that drained out when the driveshafts came out du...

Re: Help - Stuck Strut!
Well removal of the nut was achieved, a grinder and lots of violence achieves wonders! This side the strut slipped out of the hub beautifully and so came apart on the bench easilly. Am now struggeling to compress the new spring sufficently to get the strut top back on! Only a sadist could have desig...

Re: Help - Stuck Strut!
What is it with the last few threads of this bloody car? The drop link ball joint is not as stuck as the track rod end on the other side! I am not going to give in though, looking for more allen keys! Might try to find a torex or spline bit and just bugger it up but get it off, as long as I can get ...

Re: Help - Stuck Strut!
Well we had a crow bar in the gap spreading it and still no luck. When we got it onto the bench there was a clear gap all the way round the bottom of the strut and a small ammount of "wiggle" but no vertical movement at all! Still that side is done, this side has already scored a hit, the drop link ...
