1994 Renault Clio 1.2 Campus.
Good first car, simple and basic but reliable.
1992 Ford Orion 1.8i 16v (zeta) LX.
Absolute lemon. Scrapped with only 80k on the clock.
Looked exactly like this (except with wheeltrims)

Re: Small engines in big cars?
I agree with Welly, I reckon diesels are going out of fashion too. They'll end up back like they were in the 80s, where they were a niche choice and the diesel pump was at the trucks end of the forecourt. The emissions controls are strangling them. These small petrols with 3 cylinders and a big turb...

Re: Small engines in big cars?
I think the 1.6 HDi in the 407 got a bad rep, hauling around a big car like that. I was reading a review of the Skoda Rapid 1.6TDi, they said the engine was unrefined as it had to be caned everywhere, but it did return 65MPG. Suppose its alright if its a fleet, but for a private buyer it mightnt be ...

If it's running on fresh air they need to check their fuel lines and fuel filter housing for leaks.

Re: Today I saw my first....
That Nexia is half tempting due to the mileage.
The Dacia Champagne SuperNova looks like a 309 or Renault 11 with the glass took off the boot.
I do like cheap basic cars though, I like ZXs, Felicias and the other halfs Getz has a back to basics appeal to it.

Daewoo had been building mk2 Astras for years, even when Vauxhall/Opel were building and selling them. Just so happened when Vauxhall/Opel stopped selling them it gave Daewoo an oppurtunity to enter the UK market with it. Also called Asüna GT (Canada, 1991–1993 hatchback) Asüna SE (Canada, 1991–1993...

I mind once seeing the RUC (what is now PSNI) in a 406. Looked something like this http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2298/5699630661_1e47f54c8f.jpg Though for a while there they were having 406s used against them http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/47638000/jpg/_47638114_carcrashed.jpg http://newsimg....

Re: Talented kids from talentless parents
Nice one! It must be nice for you to see your kids doing so well, and its nice for them to know that their parents are so proud of them. The other half has a cousin near Manchester who is severely autistic, couldn't hold a conversation but is obsessed with music. We went over for his 21st birthday a...

Lozz is yer man for sure. I agree, when I had Citroens and the Pug, people used to say things like "*suck air through teeth* I had a Renault 18 back in the day. Bag of bolts. Thats why I only buy 316is now. On which the turbo and clutch have went prematurely. But thats typical German efficiency. Rep...
