Re: 2.1TD Not Cranking - Relays Buzzing
I finally got round to fixing it today and it was a the ECU earth wire. I cut out the in-line connector and soldered on a new tag. I also put on a new auxillary belt as the cheapo one I fitted 6 months ago was badly cracked, so went with a Dayco belt from GSF. Thanks again for the advice.

2.1TD Not Cranking - Relays Buzzing
Have hit a major problem wioth my girlfriend's '98 2.1TD. When you turn the ignition on the glow plug light does not come on and the starter will not engage. The multi-function relay (next to the ECU) buzzes whilst the ignition is on. If this is disconnected the glow plug relay also buzzes. It start...

Re: 2.1 HDI Poor Starting and Loss of Performance
The car is all sorted now - the cam belt was stretched and the pump was running just out of sync. It looked fine when I set it up, but stripping it again showed this up. I fitted a new belt and it now starts and runs better than ever, indicating the old belt was tired - despite the service papers sh...

Re: 2.1 HDI Poor Starting and Loss of Performance
Thanks for the replies. I did some more homework and founf the belt guide in the KB - great resource! I stripped the car today and found the fuel pump timing to be 1 tooth retarded - the cam was still in sync with the crank. Sure enough I found bits of belt in the timning chest. The timing belt appe...

2.1 HDI Poor Starting and Loss of Performance
Hi, New here and have a problem with my 120k mile '98 estate. We normally use it as a runaround for the dog but had to do 600 miles in it at the weekend. Towards the end of the trip I experienced loss of power steering and charging. I found the ancillary serpentine belt was off, with around half of ...
