Looking for a reliable 406
Hi all, After my old green machine has been taken out last week, i am now looking for a decent 406 or Skoda Octavia or a good diesel 2 litre. My problem is that most of those I have seen so far are asking far too much for the mileage (mainly trade dealers). If any of you have or know of a decent mot...

Re: Old 406 smashed up by driver without eyes
It's funny you mention the 407 2.0, as I have been looking at these today and was going to ask you guys what you thought about them. The one I have my eyes on is the Peugeot 407 2.0 HDi 136 SE.

Re: Old 406 smashed up by driver without eyes
I've been involved in changing a few clutches and flywheels on these, the flywheels have usually been 50/50 as to whether they should be changed (quite high mileages) none of them have been on the brink of failure, but common sense dictated that they be replaced. From experience, the 90 would be be...

Re: Old 406 smashed up by driver without eyes
The old one was a 1.9 Turbo lx - 1997. Engine was good but not really powerful enough to pull my old 1200kg caravan. Am I right in saying that the 110 with it's flywheel can cause trouble? I think I might prefer the 90 with a remap but how would this affect my insurance? At the end of the day I am l...

Thinking of another 406 but not sure which to go for. Just want something reliable so should I look for HDi 90, HDi110 or 2.2HD...

Re: Caravan Electrics
Found it - They have put it on the other side just to confuse me. I am going to solder the wires this time so I get a good connection and I will also route another supply like I did with the previous car as I then have a very healthy 30amp supply (only on when engine running) which helps with the ca...

Caravan Electrics
Having replaced my 1998 406lxdt with a 1997 406lxtd I would have thought that the caravan electrics would be the same. - wrong! My 1997 car had a nice red 20amp cable just sitting there on the right hand side in the boot waiting for me. This 1996 model has a 20amp fuse in the fuse compartment but no...

right hand side towbar arm to chassis
Hi and hope you are all enjoying your Easter Break. I have just fitted the towbar to my 1.9 1997 LXTD but notice that the right hand side chassis where the towbar arm is bolted is looking a bit rusty. As far as I can tell the main pulling weight is taken by the central section of the towbar which ha...
