Re: HELP!! Petrol in an HDi
Would it hurt to try using "Easy Start" or the delightfully named "Start You B***ard" until the engine fired? In the winter, we have started many reluctant engines that would otherwise have remained dead.

Drivers door mirror lets in water?
I have a 2003 406 saloon with electric mirrors. When I leave it out in the rain, it seems to let water in at the base of the door mirror trim cover. Is there any knack involved in removing the cover or does it just pull straight off?. Hopefully the mirror just requires tightening although to be hone...

Re: Headlights on when switch is off(only when engine runnin
I discovered that my 406 had auto headlights only after spending a very frustrating time trying to turn the lights off on the first night I had the Car. Prior to this discovery, I had convinced myself that I had bought a dud motor and was ready to take my anger out on the dealer. I've been a car own...

Re: MOT Failed
Fairy nuff, I didn't want to leave it at that though as people will read your post and think "Jasper doesn't bother so why should I?" My favourite is drum brake shoes, nice dob of copperslip on all the relevant points, put together and... a half hour battle later it's everywhere :frown: @ Mssr. Gri...

Re: MOT Failed
It's probably different, but I had a Peugeot Partner that failed for the same reason. The garage cleaned and greased the Front pads and gave me a ticket. One week later the brakes started to stick on so I repeated the excercise. Three days later with the fronts sticking on I fitted new pads. There t...

Re: Be gentle with me!
I collected my 406 yesterday afternoon. The dealer replaced both outer CV joints as he was unable to obtain the ABS rings alone. I have now driven the 406 for 70 miles and the brakes seem to be fine. I now have to begin the re-bonding process with my Peugeot, just hope that I succeed!!!. Many thanks...

Re: Be gentle with me!
Well I have to admit that this loan Focus is so different to the Focus diesel that I owned. Had my Focus have driven like this one, I would still have owned it and been a whole lot better off. Sometimes I wonder if the build/drive quality of a car actually gets worst towards the end of the productio...

Re: Be gentle with me!
No, it's actually a "W" reg. I don't know why, but it feels a whole lot better than the 52 reg diesel Focus that I had last year.

Re: Be gentle with me!
I hate to admit that it's a Ford Focus H/B. So easy to park, get in and out of and it hasn't got climate control but it does have air-con. Hope that I won't be banned for this!!!!

Re: Be gentle with me!
I received another phone call from the garage this afternoon. It seems that the guy who is working on my car has been called away due to a family illness. I sympathise with him, but this means that I will not now collect the car until next week. The problem now for me is that I am beginning to fall ...

Re: Be gentle with me!
Just received a phone call from the dealer, he said that ABS rings are "fractured" both sides, so with a bit of luck I should get it back tomorrow !. Hope it cures it.

Re: Be gentle with me!
Hello again, thanks for the answers so far. I have booked it in for Thursday morning and hope that it can be sorted. One problem with it, is that it is an intermittent problem and I just hope that it plays up for the mechanics on the day.
I'll keep you posted!.

Be gentle with me!
Hello, This is my first posting so be gentle with me, please!. After a break of about three years, I have bought myself another 406. It's a 2003 HDI Rapier 90 saloon and I've only had it about three weeks so it still has a guarantee from the dealer. I'm not certain if I have a problem with the brake...
