Re: Heater unit packed up completely!

My brother in law (the absolute SAINT that he is) did some electrical testing for me yesterday and tracked the fault down to a fault behind the ingnition as suggested previously. It's a switched live that simply does not switch to live... so ignition switch seems to be the problem. However, I've rea...

Re: Heater unit packed up completely!

OK so I checked all the fuses near the battery...they're fine. Unfortunately I don't know which fuse to check in the dashboard and I don't know where the passenger side fuse box is... excuse my absolute failure on that part. I did however strip the cowling from the ignition and did the usual wagglin...

Re: Heater unit packed up completely!

Seems most other occurances had at least SOME functionality but this is a complete failure of the unit, the screen the works. Seei...

Heater unit packed up completely!

I've got a mad problem going on at the moment. Last night I got back from the football (2-1 win ! only good thing to happen this weekend!) and tried to turn off the ignition but the key was wedged solid and wouldn't turn !! After much trying and testing (panicking and flapping) I managed to apply a ...

Re: Indicator problem

thanks for the info guys

need to find a decent scrappie..haven't used one in years. I will try and get the lot in one go, then change things until I get a result.

I have the MOT coming up in January so I need to get stuff like this sorted out.

Re: Indicator problem

hi Teamster I could attempt that, I'm no stranger to doing my own work...I had a Renault 5 GT Turbo for 5 years  I guess I'll have to get myself a haynes manual and track these components down. At least I know it's one of the simpler models and that I'm not looking at dealer only stuff ! thanks...

Re: Indicator problem

 I went to the trouble of asking what model my car was so I could include it in the question...then forgot to include it anyway. Total berk!

It is indeed a d8

would it be just a case of replacing the stalk with a scrapyard offering?

Hello everyone, I've done a quick search but couldn't find anything similar... hope I'm not going over old ground here My indicator stalk has started playing up a little. Left indicator is fine, headlights fine, main beams etc.. the only problem is when I indicate right. If I press the stalk towards...

Re: A new member and my 406

Hello there, thanks for the info...so I now know it's a D8. Good times, thanks for that Teamster. Dogslife - thanks mate, it is indeed very tidy. When I went to look at it I was bowled over by how good it's overall condition was, there's very little to say this thing is getting old. The bodywork has...

A new member and my 406

Hello everyone, I have had a 406 for 6 months and found your boards whilst searching for answers to a few of the niggles I've had with my car since I got it. Nothing major, overall I am seriously impressed ! This is my 406 1.9TD (the pics are from the trader page when I bought the car, I don't have ...
