"New" engine conked. Mostly EGR codes.

Greetings Pug fans. My joy of after a DIY engine swap lasted all of four miles. All of a sudden a knocking noise. Stopped. Open bonnet, it was more a deep booming than the mechanical rattle that killed the last engine. Got it recovered home. Planet laptop stuck in bootloop so had to use my generic s...

Re: Is an engine swap now an option?

Ahh... yes I'd have to swap the box out of the duff motor. Still... once it's out access won't be a problem

Is an engine swap now an option?

My beloved 406 D9 2.0 HDi 110 Exec has died, a busted conrod is my guess as things stand. Bless her, she owes ne nothing, just over 200k on the clock ... it is her time... or, is it? Looking at how second hand car prices are going absolutely bonkers at the moment I am thinking an engine swap is not ...

Clunk clunk clunk when turning... New drive shaft time?

Greetings Pug lovers. My D9 has just passed its MOT with very minor advisories 8) BUT has developed a clunk clunk clunk noise from the front drivers side wheel. Only happens when I turn the steering wheel. Not noticed any abnormal handling or vibration so am thinking maybe it's a cv joint gawn orft....

Re: Fuel (diesel) woes.

If I have time I will link in the full lowdown on how to fix this QUICKLY. My main issue was with there apparently being no wiring diagrams available anywhere f...

Re: Fuel (diesel) woes.

Cant use the 307 fuse box apparently, been told it MUST be an exact part number match. Ordered one off ebay which came today. Fitted in a flash, buzzing solved, lift pump now operating normally. STILL the bugger wont start. I am going to need a new battery with all the hammering it is getting. What ...

Re: Fuel (diesel) woes.

Not good news I am afraid... Pump arrived, fitted with much swearing, spillage of diesel, cuts, abrasions ... yada yada yada. I bought the cheap one listed by Euro car parts. Dimensionally correct in every detail ... except it has a spigot for the flow pipe that is too friggin' small!!! Bought a len...

Re: Fuel (diesel) woes.

Finally I have a +12v direct live to the OBD, a working laptop and a charged battery. I think I may have traced it. In parameters 1 engine RPM stays firmly at zero during cranking. Would you fine gentlemen have cause to disagree with my conclusion that I may indeed have a dead crank sensor as has be...

Re: Fuel (diesel) woes.

Another Sunday, two weeks without a laptop and hence pp2k, finally got it fixed. Dead battery by now (of course!) So... after charging my poor old battery for the best part of the day the time at last comes to do parameter test... only to find that bodging a twelve volt live via the fuse box as the ...

Re: Fuel (diesel) woes.

More info. Been out in the dark and the cold with a freshly charged laptop OBD port permanent live sorted with a bodge wire off the fuse box. The correct wording from pp2000 is: camshaft/crank sensor synchronisation=no. Apart from that, not much of a clue - would I be right in saying that unless the...

Re: Fuel (diesel) woes.

Hi everyone! Right then its Sunday, I have been buggering about with it all morning - mostly trying to fix the OBD socket - what a pain in the bum! I left the laptop on while sorting that and by the time I ran PP2000 the battery was nearly drained but I did manage to get a fault saying crank sensor ...

Fuel (diesel) woes.

On my way to number one childs wedding last Monday and the pug conks right on the magic roundabout in Swindon. Managed to coast off the busy bit and onto a verge (phew!!), abandoned her and hot footed it to the registry office and asked big bruv to attend the recovery. Apparently the recovery guy af...
