Following on from Steve's post what is the engine temperature when the car is warmed up? the engine temperature reaches just below the 70 mark normally, although gets a little higher whilst stationary (idling) when some heat inside comes through. I have checked coolant level-seems ok, but not sure ...

can anybody offer me some advice about my `98 406 1.8lx which seems to have a problem with the heater. It doesn`t get that warm in the car even with dial fully on the red, and seems worse when the fan is operated. Is this an inherent problem with the car or could there be a fault?
