Re: RIP 406, she was a fine ship.
It was that solstice moon that did it. My 406 is also awaiting the crusher - RIP. It has been a very bad day today. The RAC guy diagnosed valve hits piston syndrome this afternoon. I can't afford to have the engine refurbished. If anyone needs a brand new alternator for a 1.9 diesel 1997 model it's ...

Bleeding fuel system 1.9 td 406 1997
If I ever run out of diesel, is it a difficult task to bleed the air out of the fuel system?
The fuel gauge is very unreliable and I try to keep it as full as possible. I am worried though that I'll forget to keep it topped up and one day have to start from empty

Re: pug 406 starting and running problem (help)
Had the same problem yesterday morning. My 406 is a 1997 or 8 1.9 diesel. I managed to flatten the battery and am off out shortly to see if it starts. I've charged the battery and it's full. I hope you have success with yours. A guy at the local garage said that the cold start stuff works, but the d...

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?
The odometer doesn't work so I haven't a clue. I know it's more than 150,000 miles but beyond that, it's anybody's guess. I've spent a fortune on it at the Platt Bridge Mot centre since September and it runs like an ashmatic mule. Last week I really felt like trading it for a donkey best regards fro...

Re: turbo reroute
I'm flat broke at the moment; I wondered if an MOT centre would be able to tell if the turbo is seized or kaputt. Can they do any kind of test to check it, other than fit a boost gauge? many thanks Swiss for the speedy reply

Re: turbo reroute
It's my first time here, but I sense that a great deal of knowledge and commonsense is available. I'm intrigued at the thought of ar rushing into the cabin! I do have a wee question - I've been driving a 1997 406 1.9 diesel for a few months now. I love the car to bits, but it's thrown its alternator...
