Thanks for the advice - I will give it a go - I notice the clutch does not engage because it needs regassing so I might well be this

HI first things first merry Christmas I hope its been good for everyone :) just before Christmas on the way home my 406 110hdi estate started making a really loud ticking nose at all rpm's - I really thought it was the big ends or something on the way out after taking off the aux belt the noise went...

took it to the garage and the water pump was really shot so pump all belts, pully etc now done and its fine cheers

I took off the aux belt and the noise was still there with the engine running so i used a snap-on stethoscope bought a few years ago and the noise is definatly behind the cam cover so its going to my local garage for a cambelt, pully, and water pump change probobly as i expect one of them is worn - ...

My wifes hdi engine has started to make a squealing/scraping noise like a bearing on the way out but its hard to pinpoint - it only happens once the car has started up and driven about 3 miles so when the engine is warm then about every 15 seconds it will make this squeal noize for about 5 seconds -...

ok it sounds like the usual squiggling under the cat stuff
I am getting mine from cats 2 u online it looks like one for yours would be around 90-125 depending on year

Hi All my front pipe/cat has a leak on the flexi part near the manifold and it looks like it has been welded before - i can get a new replacement type approved for around £130 which is ok but i was wandering if it can be fitted without a ramp? i did the middle and rear back along without a ramp but ...

HI all I bought a 2001 406 hdi 110 estate with 115k on it back in jan and so far have been pleased with it - i had to replace the middle and back exhaust box but i got a good deal on that at £125 if i fitted it myself on the driveway so alls ok there and the handbrake is rubbish but i can deal with ...

apologies for taking so long to reply - yes thats the kiddy - it appears to be leaking a little as there is oil on the cylinder head above it so i will investigate further

having done a search it appears to be a bit of a common problem
