Re: DIY or cheap service?
I would rather buy a car from a compentent owner that has looked after the car and serviced it themself, if its an older car. Newer cars require ecu upgrades and all sorts of attention in the first few years that you just cant do yourself!!. , So when your car is 5 years old if you are happy it serv...

Spot welded it in place with my arc welder and it looks tidy, this saturday my lads mate is going to finish it with his mig welder for the MOT. Then a quick grind ,...

Re: Rusty Sills
Sounds like a plan lozz, i will hire a mig welder for a saturday. How about the mk1 cortina sill idea, Has anyone cut one to fit. The sill is rotted from the front wheel arch to just behind the drivers door and a 4" plate running that length will cover it. Will have a look on speedy hires site for h...

Re: Rusty Sills
I think garages are ok with laptops but expect you to scrap the car when it gets rusty, i only have a arc welder at home. I could buy a mig welder but i dont think i would use it enough. Its getting hard to find someone to weld a car nowadays with out charging the earth.

Re: Leaky Rocker Cover Gasket
Have you checked the breather pipe connection to the top of the rocker cover as this is were mine was leaking. The oil was then running around the back of the engine and dripping down, a clean up and new jubilee clip sorted it.

Re: Turbo Diesels
My neighbour has a 2008 307 2.0 hdi and it seems to eat turbos, i think all the 406 turbos are most robust and run at a lower boost.

Re: Turbo Diesels
I think its best to let the turbo cool down slightly before turning off the engine, if the turbo has been working hard at high revs or along run. As the oil feed to the turbo bearings can carbonize if the turbo is shut down when very hot. The turbos on old peugeots are quite robust not like the new ...

Re: leaking fuel filter and no fuel pump..
Just had a look on ebay for filters and the genuine peugeot filter have a better design of sealer ring that looks to be bonded to the filter element, the cheaper one look like they can been awkward to seal. So maybe a trip to peugeot tomorrow as they cant be very costly
