Engine starting problem - " Driving me round the bend!

Hi everybody, My 1.9TD is baffling us all. The problem is that upon starting the engine, the engine has to turn at least half a dozen times before it fires. OK i know what the usual suspects are. So i have taken the car to 2 "Diesel Specialists " to try & find the answer. We have tested the injector...

I really do enjoy reading these stories about highest mileage cars. It,s quite incredible what some of these 406,s achieve as regards longevity. My last 1.9TD had 271,000 on it before being passed on & it,s still going around as regular transport everyday. My current 2.1TD only 111,000 currently so ...

Power Steering 2.1 TD

I have noticed the same "light" feeling on my car. I also wondered whether
it should be so light ? - it still is. All the other 406,s i,ve had have been 1.9TD
If you find something out let us know, it,s much lighter steering than i,m used
to previously....

Suitable oils

You don,t specify what engine is in your car. However if it is petrol 1.8/2.0 litre then i would go for semi synthetic 10w/40, it,s also what Peugeot say.If on the other hand you have a diesel engine again semi synthetic 15w/40 is the most popular. People also use 10w/40 as well - there isn,t much i...

Thanks for that.I see it is almost the same as ford but then you,ve got to get it right or as you say the radio could shut down - loads of hassle!

Many thanks Ian...... :D
