Fantastic! I really am struggling to like this car.

I have found some tuning boxes for the Siemens version and I believe that Superchips may do a remap, but I'd have to double check that and at £515 it aint cheap - in fact too expensive for it to be worthwhile on this car.

these 'boxes' are bad news for a HDi, they confuse the engine ecu and rail pressure sensor into raising the fuel pressure, yes you will gain power, but your high pressure pump and injectors wont take it for long i would leave it alone or just settle for a remap, more expensive but a safer option Ha...

My Seat was remapped at 5k miles and now on 32k it is still absolutely fine so I have no fears about remaps. I'm not sure about tuning boxes though as they simply mask the signals to the ECU and trick it into over fuelling to give the increases. What I don't know is if TB's simply ensure sensor sign...

Yeah, the fuel pump completely siezed after something inside broke and basically jammed it. Since it is driven from the cambelt via a toothed wheel when it stopped (at 90mph) the belt came off having bent the tensioners. Luckilly for me, although you could see where the valves made contact with the ...

Remap or Tuning Box

Which way to go chaps (and chapesses) ? I have a love/hate relationship with my 406 HDi 90. Its comfy and fairly economical and easy to live with. However, its the first non-GTi type of car I've ever had and its slow, cumbersome and bloody frustrating on 'A' roads if stuck behind slow moving cars/va...

....... forgot to add in the MAF at £72.

Replaced mine and got an extra 4MPG and much smoother running and a tiny amount of extra zip (if you can use the word zip about an HDI 90!).

High Pressure Diesel Pump Failure:- - Siemens pump = £514 + VAT from Peugeot - Set of followers = £280 from Peugeot (Bosch replacements now available from EuroCarParts much cheaper) - Cambelt - Tensioners (x2) - Bottom Pulley (not essential but hey, if you're spending £1200 another £50 won't notice)...

Finally back on the road yesterday. Running OK (idle still lumpy as i was before the problems) but sweet when driving along. Cleaned as much of the "glitter" out as possile but will have to rely on the fuel filter to catch whatever's left in the system. I'll have a look tonight after my 160 mile rou...

Have you checked that the turbo is boosting as it should ? The intake pipe that runs from the turbo to the engine can be blown off or split (not the one from airbox to turbo - and its a pig to re-secure because you can't easily get at it) or maybe a blocked air intake ? I'd start looking there is th...

Got to the bottom of it all......... got the head back on (no damage to pistons or valves), new rockers and tappets in, new tensioners on, bottom pulley wheel changed and belt fitted. Tried to turn the engine by hand - not a chance. Moves about 5 degrees then something metallic hits. After about an ...

Where you have instant values rather than averages or have just reset/zero'd the computer (by pressing and holding the right hand stalk button in for 3 secs) and there is no data to draw from the computer will not display any values - just dashes. If its getting readings you'll see the dashes change...
