Re: 1999 Pug 406 110 Hdi - Drive belt tension problems

Hi, Is your alternator pulley a freewheel type, mine siezed, which is what caused the problem at idle, but goes once the revs rise. With the belt fitted, and ENGINE OFF you should be able to move the rotor in the alternator one way quite easily, by using your finger through the vents in the casting ...

Re: 406 speedo stopped working

Hi Guys, Had to do this on mine, after it died on day one of a two week tour of Scotland!! You can get to it from underneath, if you have a pair of ramps to drive up. Its a bit of a wrist killer to get out, but doable, the fixing bolt on mine was a torx screw, so make sure you have a good set to get...

Delphi A/C compressor wanted

Hi Chaps,

Does anyone have a Delphi 5290 air con compressor kicking around?

Mines now incontinent, looking at replacing the seals, but need one to fit so I can still drive the thing, while I service my old one.

Re: 1999 Pug 406 110 Hdi - Drive belt tension problems

Hi Chaps,

I had a similar problem with mine, turned out to be the alternator pulley knackered, replaced it with a new one, job done, no more slack on aux belt, and much quieter on idle.

if the tensioner bounce disappears over about 1500rpm, it could be the pulley as the culprit.

Wanted BSI, ECU and Keys

As above really, found out that my 99 D9 hasn't got many toys to play with in the BSI, so looking out for a 01 or 02 Bsi Set, preferably out of an Exec, or maybe a GLX. Preferably one that had cruise fitted , although I know the're rare as a poultry dentist. If anyone knows of any pitfalls to this, ...

Peugeot Planet - How good is it? Really?

Been considering getting this bit of kit for a while, but am reluctant to spend that kind of dosh without knowing if its going to do the job I need it for. All I need to do is turn the cruise control option on (if its even there, the stalk is, but does nothing). That's the main thing, but I also wan...

New boy

Hiya Have been lurking on the forums for a while now, but thought I'd actually say hello and get involved. I've got a Pug 406 2l HDI estate, been to the moon and back, but it just keeps going, its fantastic! I've lost track of the work I've done on this car. It was a shed when I got, and now its vir...
