Update. Today I went to the local scrappy they only had one 406, a salon and it had a circulation motor so I took a chance it was a good one and removed it from the car in the scrappy. I just changed mine for a set with fancy stainless steel dials i got off ebay they were off a 3.0l petrol and and my car is a 2.0l diesel all i had to do was move a couple of the bulbs in the back so the glow plug light would light up and bingo everything worked beautifully

I have spent the afternoon with me head in the pasanger footwell and have managed to get the motor off :) and the noise has stopped (what joy!) i then pluger the motor in to see what happened and the grey funny shaped cog thing did 1 1/2 revolutions clock wise it does the same when you press the cir...
