Sad to report still cannot find the fault. Relay seems to be energising fine on the ignition so my guess would be a broken wire/bad connection somewhere. Sadly I haven't the time to sort it so have had to buy a new car to get mobile again so will pop this up for sale as spares / repairs, shame, it's...
