406 2.0 diesel alternators?
I'm in a pickle guys. My alternator stopped charging just before christmas and i had to leave it parked at my wifes family home. As no scrappers were open over the holidays i had to wait until today to start searching for a replacement. I had no success today but I'm going to the largest yard around...

Re: clutch pedal problem
thats exactly what i am thinking, mainly because there is still a savage amount of pressure in the clutch pedal when I try to push it down. Its just that if the release bearing is at fault then why doesnt the pedal return to its normal position? Also im reading about some 406's having another compon...

Re: clutch pedal problem
update, I just went out to see if raising the pedal would do anything and it did. when I pulled it out it stayed out and I was able to operate it as normal. with normal foot pressure I was able to press in the clutch and change gear no problem (although the bearing did sort of sound a little noisy)....

clutch pedal problem
Hi folks, I was driving along today and when I tried to take off from a round about the clutch pedal went straight to the floor and wouldnt come back up. I struggled to get it into gear at first but now its moving through about 10mm at the bottom end of its swing and allowing me to change gear. Its ...

Re: poor cold starting 90 hdi
I know it seems to be a given these days that in our climate hdi's dont really require glow plugs to start easily however a mechanic buddy of mine, who is quite proficient with peugeot's developed a similar starting problem last week on his 2.0 litre 407. He changed the glow plugs and the problem wa...

Re: Rear ARB bushes
cheers for the tip gumby, Anyway took the car to my mate and he drilled the bolt out and we both set about doing the rest of the job. Gotta say having an impact wrench makes a world of difference. didn't even need to use any wd40, the gun just vibrates the nut loose :) The car now feels like it has ...

Re: Rear ARB bushes
Cheers ddd, I just did a little research and found that they're called clic-r clips . It looks like a pair of tying wire knips would do the job nicely. I only had a short stubby pair and they just wouldn't work at all

Re: Rear ARB bushes
started tackling this job today and what a pain in the arse it truly is :x getting the fuel duct out of the way is easy enough, just undo the metal clip holding it to the fuel tank and pull the duct to separate it from the tank. then just undo the plastic clips the hold the two smaller fuel pipes to...

Re: 406 HDI DRONING WHEEL BEARING
Thanks guys.... Just had 4 new tyres put on and balanced so I'm guessing that rules tyre noise out as it was there before and still there now. I did notice that when I was going round a very long swept bend on the motorway that the noise seemed to quieten on the opposite side to the bend, would tha...

Re: 406 HDI DRONING WHEEL BEARING
I have this same problem too. it only appears after about 60mph. If it is a wheel bearing you'll most likely not be able to detect it at stationary. If you turn sharply into the fast lane and the noise goes away/fades out then the problem is on the drivers side, likewise if you turn the sharply to t...

Re: Rear ABS Ring?
No worries dirtydirtydiesel.
Any chance you and I could set up a small import/export business
Looks like I have no choice but to get a new hub so. When I get around to replacing it I'll measure the ring and check for sure if it is integrated into the hub.

Re: Rear ABS Ring?
thanks for all the advice so far guys. the back plates aren't actually in too bad of condition. I was giving the other half lessons when she tried to take off with the hand brake still on and she drove for a couple of yards giving plenty of throttle. the little phillips head screw like things just p...
