I got a key out from the UK and had an agent get it to mate up to the car.
Problem solved but i still have a surging issue that i mentioned in an earlier thread.
Still great to get to the bottom of it cheers to everyone that helped.
My ex was going to scrap the car.
thanks
John
i had the key cut off the wafers by a friend locksmith.
Will try the dealers and check the car to see if code is on a card somewhere.
thanks and will report back
The vehicle is 1998 so i think it is a mk1 fob/key from what i can see.
Presuming this is the issue(most likely) can i get a replacement second hand and recode it somehow?
Ah ok i searched keypad and it is a physical item in the car. Ok this makes sense as the key to this car was recently lost and a new one was recut and it has not gone since. The reason a transponder was not thought of was a key had been previously cut at some point years ago and it started it no pro...
yes possibly but it seems to have diesel at the injectors no problem. My thoughts were the computer has had enough of the faults perhaps and that it is what is stopping it starting as opposed to a mechanical issue but i really do not know.
This engine went very well but had the odd surging issue not long after start up which was never fixed but you could live with it. Now the car is not not starting at all yet has fuel, compression etc and timing is fine. I don't know if mechanics have plugged it in to get a fault but am thinking i wi...
i have not tried any fix but the car is not not starting at all yet has fuel compression etc and timing is fine. I don't know if mechanics have plugged it in to get a fault but am thinking i will replace the green water temp sensor on the head and leave battery disconnected for a few days before i r...
I think from the research i have done that the sensor you refer to will be a water temp sensor not feul temp? And therefore it should be the green one on the side of the cylinder head is used by the ECU to control fueling. So i think i will try that easy option first. Am not sure how the dealership ...
The problem is intermittent but always happens not long after start up when driving. I presume that it is something to do with a check that is happening electronically at this time. It never does it after this initial start up period of a few minutes. I think it only goes to full revs when accelerat...
I have the pre HDI engine that is 2.1l turbo diesel and not that common. The problem i have is soon after start up(usually when driving)the engine revs go up and down uncontrollably and if i press the accelerator it often just goes to full revs and stays there(turn off ignition and restart) sometime...
