Re: Slave Cylinder pipework

Looks like a job for a hose supplier such as Hose Doctor or Pirtek ...

If you are happy to go down the second hand route, there is a breaker called BBautos, he can be found on eBay.

Re: Weird foot pedal issue 406 2001 2 HDI

I have found that if the vacuum supply to the servo is leaking or faulty, then the pedal is rock hard and the brakes are ineffective - I found this out the hard way but I've learned from the experience.....

Re: Weird foot pedal issue 406 2001 2 HDI

Sadly I have little experience when it comes to fault finding the ABS system, but a hairline crack in one of the reluctor rings is possible... As for the door locks, push the little tab just inside the curve of the interior handle will lock all the doors, this will prevent any reprobates from gettin...

Re: Starting Issue. Glow Plugs?

Fear not - the ignition problem ( if it is indeed the problem ) is only a part of the harness that fits to the back of the barrel - your existing barrel and key are unaffected. Hold on, I'll find a link to what you are looking for.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ignition-Switch-Lock-Wire-Cable-Plug-Har...

Re: Starting Issue. Glow Plugs?

I'm thinking ignition switch too - have you had problems with your blower working intermittently? As Doggy says, the Hdi doesn't really need glow plugs to start the car, and as yours is a 90 the chances are you have the priming bulb. The CTS can cause issues but if yours is new then it should be okay

Re: Plastic/ chrome trims - estate vs saloon

Yes.
Everything below the window is the same - with the exception of early models as they don't have the chrome trim ( except executive spec )

I just bought some vinyl strips, 10mmfor the sides and 15mm for the bumpers.

Re: alternator issues

Indeed, looks likely there are gremlins afoot...

Try the BSI reset first - but I hasten to add the abs, airbag and immobiliser all go through the same connector so if this is the case it's worth tackling with caution.

Re: Peugeot 406 saloon rubber seal leaking.

Personally, and being of a financially cautious nature  I would only buy the driver's door sill weather strip on body, and rotate your driver's door seal. Also, check the drain holes in the bottom of the door - the door is designed to let rain water through the door and out of the bottom - a m...

Re: Morning all!

Welcome.

Like Doggy, I've owned a few 406s, 3 of which were the 2.2hdi - great engine and the car in general is very underrated.

Feel free to look through the Knowledge Base on the home page, lots of information there too

Enjoy your travels down South - I'm here already

Re: Power Folding Mirrors

Okay - it has been a while since I used PP2K, maybe the 'passenger compartment' is a fully multiplex thing, or I'm simply imagining it...

But yes, the windows raising upon deadlocking is in effect the total closure system.

Re: Power Folding Mirrors

No. The Coupe has auto front windows which will raise if you turn the key to lock and hold it there for a few seconds ( or keep the remote lock button pressed ) The saloon and estates only have the driver's window with the auto function, so sadly the total closure isn't a working feature. Try test b...

Re: Power Folding Mirrors

Mark's car is also a semi multiplex, and total closure aside it should be the same principle..? When the deadlocks are activated the mirrors close, or am I missing something? Total closure only works on Coupes, it's in the PP2K menu for saloons and estates and it can be activated, but it still won't...

Re: Peugeot 406 saloon rubber seal leaking.

Usual culprits for wind noise are the door sill trims ( the bits you normally kick to pieces with your feet when you get out of the car ) and the driver's door seal The door seal can be removed and simply rotated 90° so the part at the bottom becomes the bit by the latch when refitted - no tools req...
