Re: Car Thermostat has 3 diff coloured sensors (green, blue &

They are all coolant temperature sensors for cars that are "pre-mux", that is to say before the cars were fully multiplexed. For the V6 that change came with the ES9J4S-engine, it only has the green sensor. Mine, on the other hand, a 1999 ES9J4, has all three. For the V6 the following colour code is...

Re: Dunno, it died, what has happened

First you need to check if there are any codes stored by using PP2000.

Then check if the pump(s) are working as they're supposed to and that the fuel filter has not been clogged. When did you replace it last time? Any chance of water in the tank (has it been standing for an excessive period of time)?

Re: Fuel Gauge

If you don't trust your gauge you can always just measure on the float's pins on at the pump. It's just a variable resistor. When my pump failed I first suspected a bad connection somewhere, but measuring on the pump proved that the problem was located within the tank. I don't have the nominal full/...

Re: Fuel gauge problem

Mine has been nice and reliable. It has changed a bit when parking on a hill, but only for as long as I was actually on the hill. The only main exception is last summer, where it became very erratic and unreliable. Eventually I lost any reading from it, and not long after the fuse went. As it turned...

Re: Vacuum leak after engine shut down

Sounds like the check valve in your brake booster is faulty. On some it is possible to replace the check valve itself, on others you may have to replace the entire brae booster. I don't know what is the case for the 406. Under normal operation the brake booster is filled with vacuum on both sides of...

Re: One door no longer triggers the interior lights

Not that easy, unfortunately....

Light bulb lights up when any other door opens up. Also, wiggling the wire bundle does nothing. I guess there's not much choice left but to access the locking mechanism...

Re: One door no longer triggers the interior lights

I do have lights in the door cards, so I'll have a look at the bulb. Easiest way to check it will be to open any of the other doors, since all of them turn on together. I guess fiddling with those wires may also be part of the trick if it is a contact issue.

Thanks.

Re: One door no longer triggers the interior lights

Don't worry too much about removing the membrane, just heat up the bonding putty with a hair dryer until warm and soft You can then carefully peal it back & replace with out to much bother. Hope this helps DDD Thanks - definitely worth a try! In my most recent trip behind the membrane (3 different ...

Re: One door no longer triggers the interior lights

scoopey: I'll have to look into that! Do you refer to the contacts of the connector then, or? As it happens mine is also a '99. Thanks for the additional input, Steve. The car is a D9 V6 pre-mux saloon. By the by, all D9s are mux, they just got loads more of it in 2001. Yes, I guess semi-mux or van-...

Re: One door no longer triggers the interior lights

Thanks Doggy, there was a diagram there I can use - at least as a starting point.

Hopefully I won't have to mess with the water membrane to fix my issue...

One door no longer triggers the interior lights

Hi. My rear left door has stopped triggering the interior lights (or the MFD message about open door for that matter). All the other doors work as intended, both giving a warning and the cabin lights. I guess the switch is somewhere inside the locking mechanisms? Perhaps I could figure it out if I h...

Re: Front coil spring

Could it be that you haven't seated it correctly in the recess? If it's rotated a bit off the side I could imagine it not laying exactly flat. There's a little hole where the spring end should rest.

Plastic tape on door pillar?

Any of you had any luck sourcing that black tape that at least the estate has on the door pillars? I need some of the same material for the Mrs' 206, but don't really know where to start looking.

i would guess that you need to enable it in PP2000. Have you got access to it?

Actually, I do, but I already got the AC pipes off of it for a friend. But luckily there are tons of them on ebay if you search for "406 breaking".
