Re: are mpg computer accurate,im getting bad mpg
OK, thanks for the comments. I now reckon mine is OK, I'm turning the display off. I think it encourages obsessive behaviour and makes me drive dangerously!

Re: are mpg computer accurate,im getting bad mpg
I did a brim to brim test on my 02 110 rapier estate and got 31mpg doing short journeys around town. Computer said 31.7 mpg. This seems pretty terrible to me! I went down the M6 on sunday, steady 75, occasionally up to 80 by accident, and got 45 on the computer. I felt a bit better but still think i...

Re: 2.1 XUD11 engine surging after start up
Sorry, I can't give you any more info about which one it was. Probably you'll have to take it to someone who can read the fault codes :-(

Re: 2.1 XUD11 engine surging after start up
Hi, I had a 2.1, just sold it (and it's now on ebay for twice what I sold it for!!!), and it used to do this hunting business. It was a fuel temperature sensor. Can't remember which one, the garage had to look at the fault codes. But anyway, I was really worried it was going to be the fuel pump but ...

Re: 2.1 td running problems
I had the surging problem and it turned out to be the fuel temperature sensor, it's an easy, cheap(ish) and quick fix. Dunno if you've tried that?

Re: MOT fail, help please :)
Where do I start? There were an awful lot of little things, two big things and much labour. It was one of those decisions - scrap the car or spend the money. Scrapping it seemed like a stupid thing to do. But then spending £900 seemed stupid too. It's become an all too familiar old car nightmare :ro...

Re: Any issues with 2.1td engine?
Mine is absolutely fine (tempting fate!). I've had it for two years, it's at 110k, and so far the only thing to go wrong was the fuel temp sensor (cheap to fix). It's fast, comfortable, economical on long runs and generally an all-round good car as far as I can tell. I've had a few pugs and a citroe...

Re: CLUNK FROM THE FRONT END
Cheers for that handy advice. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while really, but by way of an irrational false economy have failed to do so by way of a fear of what I might find! If it *was* to be an engine mount is that looking like a lot of money to fix? Anyhow, thanks again. Hope this...

Re: CLUNK FROM THE FRONT END
Sorry I can't help you, but I've been hearing a similar clunking from my 2.1td when lifting off the accelerator too .... it's one of those things that I try to ignore but worry that I am doing so at my peril! I'm guessing that it's likely an engine mount and guess further that it'll cost more to fix...

Re: Petrol v Diesel?
I've had three pug diesels, a 305 van, a 405 estate and now a 406 2.1 (i had a xantia diesel estate in between but I don't like to talk about that). They were all great - the 305 and 405 went forever, the 305 went to spain and is probably still cruising around over there as I type, the 405 would sti...

Re: 2.1 td lx - mpg?
driving round town, short journeys, car not warmed up much, I only get @65-70 miles on a tenner .... the 2.1 only seems to come into its own on long motorway journeys - mine'll do 100 miles on a tenner at a steady 80 or so on an m-way. I think the problem in town is that it's easy to go for the powe...
