Removed plastic trim hiding various pipes including clutch slave pipe and restricting access to master cylinder. Removed air box. Rotated slave thro 90 deg anti clockwise and jiggled out. Re: plastic trims that hide the clutch pipes and top of bulk

Thanks, when I went over Saturday morning and had a good look I could see that the lower sections hiding the clutch pipe and restricting access to the master cylinder were held in by some small Torx self tappers. i removed these and the plastic trim came loose.

Thanks for your response though.

plastic trims that hide the clutch pipes and top of bulkhead

Am going to attempt to debug a clutch problem on my father's 2.1 this weekend. Had a look the other evening and there's a two part plastic trim that meets below the plastic trim that is at the bottom of the windscreen. It looks like a drip trim to deflect water from running down the engine side of t...

Clutch Hydraulic System Removal - guidance pls

Hi, looking at the Haynes manual it lists the steps but doesn't mention anything about the black plastic trim which appears to be clipped onto tabs where the top of the bulkhead meets the bodywork to the bottom of the windscreen, across the whole of the width of the back of the bonnet. It splits aro...

Re: 406 lxdt 2.1 central locking locks then unlocks

I checked all the doors. The issue is that I can activate the central locking from the passenger door and it holds. But walk around to the drivers door and clunk (lock) then immediately kerchunk (unlock), so the system sees all doors closed when locking from the passenger door, but possibly not from...

Re: glow plug failure

Steve, thanks for the diag. Fitted Durite replacement and new air temp sensor. Bingo fired first turn of the engine after preheat. Better than before. Auto electrician has replaced some damaged wiring & interestingly cut #2 or #4 - suspect it's #2 cos as you note, it doesn't look like it does anythi...

Re: glow plug failure

Hi Jimmy foo, just wondered if it was just the glowplug relay or something else. My father's 98 2.1td has similar symptoms excepting that there was also some burned out wires on the loom that goes across the front of the engine. Have replaced burned out sections of wire and am to replace relay this ...

Re: glow plug failure

Update to my previous message. Have ordered a replacement Relay Control - a Durite 0-133-19 which is a replacement for the Cartier PSA 9625203680 OEM Relay Control. However, looking at the Durite Catalogue PDF it looks like my tests were not valid as it looks like there's some sort of power transist...

Re: glow plug failure

If I'm right the coil on the relay is energised by 12V across terminals 1 & 5. Checked continuity on these and found open circuit. Therefore am assuming coil is open circuit, Applied 12V across 1 & 5 but no connection across terminals 6 & 7. Therefore am looking to source replacement relay. Any sugg...

Re: glow plug failure

Jimmy, my father's 98 2.1 has just presented with same symptoms. No glowplug light on dash - wont start. He's had an autoelectrician round who has said that the wiring loom to the ecu has signs of overheating. But in the meantime has suggested we try a replacement glowplug relay and ambient temp sen...
