I didn't think the heater fan had any ballast resistors and worked by a couple of transistors on the fan housing (the engine fan does have ballast resistors on earlier cars though :? ) The box is probably the control unit, is it on the bottom of the heater housing? I've had this happen on two 406s and it's happened to a friend' car too. It's where the connector fits into the ballast resistor (I believe). A new ballast resistor is not too expensive, but difficult to remove/replace. I sorted all three by cleaning the 'burnt' teminals/connectors, nipping up the c...
