Goodbye dear Puggers

Posted this here so most would see it. After 3.5 years of 406 ownership I've been stolen from the forum by company car disease (well VW Transporter Kombi). Just a quick note for all of the hints and tips over the years and the entertainment that this forum constantly provides, not always intentional...

Re: 406 2.1td estate sale pending.

You could collect it and drive it back to Croatia Steve. Another 1500 miles wont do it any harm :cheesy: I'll miss it when it's gone as we've had some proper "Boy's Own" camping trips over the last few years. Remove the rear bench and fold down the seat backs and she's big enough to sleep in the boo...

406 2.1td estate SOLD

Hi all, After many hours of repair in a rain soaked driveway the Funbus is finally having to go through no fault of her own! I'm changing jobs and the new job has a vehicle as one of it's many rewards. I'll be selling the car mid September but thought I'd put a wee note on here in case another 406 O...

Re: Someone filled up my car for me

Could be the bad solder on the posts issue that's been on here in the past. Mine is needing re-soldered and is reading erratically again. Check for posts relating to dodgy speedos or tachos and the fix is the same. I did a "how to" ages ago so if you search my postings it should still be in among th...

I think we need a sticky on what constitutes a D8.5. In the coupe forum, its non fully multiplexed D9's. (1999-2001). AFAIK, there is no way a 1998 D8 would have D9 anything.
I beg to differ there old fruit, my D8 (very late 98 too) has D9 rear hubs.

Polyurethane bushes? Hold on, no, still the 406 owner's club (fat chance :( )
I've seen them for the 306!
Ever hopeful.

Re: A moment of quiet reflection.

If I don't need much height I'll usually put the stands under the trailing arm pivot (front end of it), it sits neatly on the stand but doesn't give a huge amount of room under the car.
I always give the car a good shake before going under it too!

Re: A moment of quiet reflection.

Hmmm, I always use axle stands when working under a car. Didn't used to be so dilligent in my younger days though  Sorry to hear about Jack, Steve. You need to grieve now but when it's time to move on I'm sure you'll find another to share those special moments... I can only hope, he'd want me...

Wobbly rear end (the car).

I have a wear issue at the back end of the car but can't seem to find much wrong. When hitting a bump I get a knock from the rear of the car and the whole of the car's arse shimmies around. All of the main bushes seem to be ok but I don't know how much movement they should have for reference. I'm th...

When I take a wheel off of the car I stick it straight under the sill.

Re: A moment of quiet reflection.

After eight years of unrelenting faithful service my Halfrauds trolley jack has finally lifted its last. It now sits forlornly in a puddle of its own oil . No-one else has spent as many wasted days off in a wet driveway with me as that jack, it's tragic. There will be a short service near the recyc...
