Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
Ok, that took longer than I expected since I re-scaled the photos to fit using Gimp. Yes, I should have copied and pasted the image URL.

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
Sorry folks. Mea culpa. Re-education appreciated. I'm obviously a forum simpleton.

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
The board doesn't allow upload of any photos. You need to upload them to a photo sharing site (Photobucket is the easiest to use, I find) and then post image links to them. Photobucket even gives you the forum code required - you just copy and paste it onto your post. Oh really? What about... http:...

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
So it's similar to the battery being removed? And you've not changed any of the wiring connectors on the back of the unit?
Perhaps it's just plain old faulty. Flash memory not working any more.

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
I have this amp attached to the plastic body shell which slides over the sat nav drive (which is attached to the body work). Related to a different thread I know but the I have removed the CD from the sat nat drive since it only worked a few times after a thorough cleaning 5 years back. I'm afraid I...

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
I don't think this system can store announcements. I have to admit that was an irritating feature on my Audi S4 back in the day... Yes, with 0, no sound. 1 is faint. So it does the trick. Plus since my last posting, all 5 TA announcements have been at the right volume. Now I'm wondering if it was th...

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
Oh well. I was going to use the spare splices on fixing the airbag pretensioner cable. It's all a bit too tight down there... so instead I used a small screwdriver to push the spring contact in tighter. That seems to work... though I won't hold my breath. The majority of TA announcements have used a...

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
The TA went off twice this morning from two different channels. Both times the TA volume started off at 9 which I quickly turned down. Is the TA volume stored per radio channel? Surely not. It certainly wasn't the case with my PU-1646. I'll have to wait for the drive home to check if the TA volumes ...

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
And the culprit? The splices didn't make adequate contact with the wires, especially the pretty fine input cable to the converters. Replacing them with a soldered connection and then insulated with heat shrink tubing did the job. So strike them from the shopping list. The levels are much lower, with...

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
I bought: 2 off http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370319050501 (NB: "Excellent Speaker level to RCA level convertor with internal noise suppression to reduce noise problems associated with the signal changeover" so you shouldn't need those devices from Halfords) 8 off (pack of 10*...

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
Oh. It was looking sooo good up till now. And then I soldered the phono plugs and... NO audio. I obviously shouldn't have soldered against the backdrop of driving rain and low light conditions. Still, I expected at least one channel to work! I'm wondering if I damaged the amp in some way. Will check...

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
I've started my experiments and tested which wires are for which speakers but I'm just waiting for a soldering iron to arrive in the post so I can solder some RCA/phono plugs to the socket on the back of the amplifier... The line converters have RCA sockets for connection to the amplifier. So far so...

Re: Issues after replacing PU-1646 with PU-2184
The movement sensors are on the A-pillars. Nothing to do with audio.
