Looks as if I'm going to have to do this conversion as I can't find a Lucas Epic anywhere. I was wondering if the conversion mentioned here was successful and if there're any tips / heads ups which might be worth passing on to my mechanic. Is it really an engine out job and must the loom and injecto...

thanks very much; labour here is very cheap so the cost of the conversion shouldn't be prohibitive unless it's a highly specialised job. Could a competent mechanic handle it?

I spoke too soon... the car doesn't start at all now and 'they' tell me I need to replace the pump or at least "the electronic part" of the pump so back to square one really. Does anyone know if there's a name for this 'electronic part'?

Update: it seems that our problem is the wiring to the pump, not the pump itself. Apparently the wires in the loom have lost some of their insulation and this is what's causing the odd symptoms. For the princely sum of 50,000 HUF (around €170) they can sort it out. So many thanks to those who have o...

Peter, thanks for the reply. I have now found out the eternal secret of the leak off test but... No blue smoke and starts first time every time. The only symptom is that hunting and rocking forwards and backwards. I understood that exchanging the Epic for the Bosch disturbed some of the electronics,...

despite my best efforts, I can't find anything on HOW to perform a leak off test! It must be so simple that everyone knows - except me! It's probably a bit like cricket or the stock market, if you don't get it by the time you're 20, it's too late to ask!
