My 406 HDI estate did that. The mechanics told me it was a pressure gate spring for the turbo ... obviously talking ********* ! The clutch was changed and the noise went away. Unfortunately, the clutch then went away after 16 months. :frown: It turned out the central spline in the clutch plate strip...

I get the impression mine's still a baby ....

2000 W reg 110 HDI estate with 77000 miles on the clock. I bought it in 2001 with 16000 miles on it, ex hire car.

You can tell it gets a hammering ... not! :lol:

Hi Guys, Thanks for the comments ... The LED on the remote flashes brightly when the buttons are pressed, so the battery is OK (It's quite new). I had to go to my local dealer for a top hose, and I asked them about it. Turns out they have a test box to check keys. :o Checked mine and sometimes it do...

Hi, I'm a newbie on this forum, so please be gentle! I have a 406 estate 110 HDI LX (2000 W) with a curious central locking problem. Sometimes the locking will work, sometimes it won't.
