Well...set about the car this evening, if only the made it as hard for the water to get under the carpet as they do for people!! Anyway, underside of carpet may have been slightly damp, brackets a bit rusted but no obvious signs of corrosion on the connector; dried it out anyway then put it all back...

HI, Reset the BSI and it seems to take longer to happen...but that could be my imagination. Will start taking up carpets tomorrow - now that I have finally located the appropriate torx bits!
