Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?
We had an 02 plate 406LX hdi110 estate until last month when we sold it with just under 140k on the clock. Served us very well but a week after selling it the head gasket started leaking. Bit of a sticky situation but, for my sins being an ethical man, worked a deal out with the buyer, he pays anoth...

Re: Windscreen troubles
It is far from just a 406 problem, from the 32 cars i have had over the last 40 years probably half of them suffered to varying extents. None had any leaks, none had sun roofs, none had wet carpets or leaks from the heater etc. I have still not found a real answer. One thing i noticed over the years...

Thanks Steve, your comment on the design of the lens mirrors my own take on them.

Re: Replacement keys
I don't think so. But you can get a Transponder key (ie Chipped but with no remote facility) made by Timpsons which is an ideal spare. Opens the car manually and starts the engine. Timpsons prices seem to vary from branch to branch but i got my from their Lowestoft branch for 25 quid and it works pe...

Peugeot 406 Estate Reversing Lights.
Hi all, hope you all had a great Xmas and an almost sober New Year's eve. I have had three 406 estate's now and all had the same minor problem, the reversing lights are crap. undoubtedly the worst i have ever had. Problem is i live in a rural village and have a fairly long drive with a 6' hedge on e...

Re: Removing rust on bonnet lip
What the guy who gave such a great explanation of procedure did not say is that his rust presumably had not perforated right through the panel metal. It often does, which makes the job a little more complicated. I have a few lightly rusting patches on the front lip of my 03 estate so i am taking the...

Re: Where to buy replacement keys?
Can i just comment on Timpsons. It seems that prices and attitudes vary enormously from one Timpsons branch to another. I had a Transponder key done by them in December at the Timpsons in Lowestoft high street ~ cost £25 quid. The procedure was they put your own key in a machine which tells them if ...

Re: Disaster - lost my only key!
Hi, yes a new 'Transponder' chipped key can be obtained from Timpsons for £25 ~ No remote. BUT, that does not help you as you and them need your original key to have the blank blade cut. Incidentally you do not need to show any proof of ownership. Seems your only recourse is going to be a Peugeot De...

Re: Electric Window Faults
What Mr Chips does not say is that on the drivers door 4 way switch the ONLY switch using an exposed circuit board is the switch for the drivers own window, the other 3 use sealed micro switches and are not serviceable. It just happens that i discovered what Mr Chips says 5 years ago and have been s...

Re: When do you put your winter tyres on.
Well living in East Anglia we never get the sort of snow scenes you see in Scotland, Northern England etc and in over 45 years of driving in all weathers have managed fine without M&S tyres. I do currently have 4 season tyres on the 406 though. PS: Never had an accident. Cars: 03 Peugeot 406hdi110 e...

Get Goodyear Eagle NCT6's or Goodyear Eagle Vector 4 season, s/h with 5-6mm tread, from somewhere like 'The German Tyre Warehouse' at about 30 quid each delivered.

Re: Are manual (non-remote) door-keys available?
PS The £25 key just done is for an 03 Pug 406hdi110 estate which has just replaced our previous 02 one. The 02 one sold within 6 days of listing it on ebay at my 'Buy it Now' price with no hassle.
