Re: Turbo dismount

Seems to be a big job: http://406coupeclub.org/PHPBB3/viewtopic.php?f=82&t=44898&p=467393&p467393 : "it was a 1,5 day job and took us about 8-9 hours" https://www.peugeotcentral.co.uk/ftopic-16927.html : "it took me 4days" Mine is a HDI 2.0, currently at 680.000 kms (425000 miles) and never had to r...

Re: Rear anti-roll bar bush sizes

A quick search shows they cost a nickle and a dime: Rear: https://spareto.com/oe/517243 Front: https://bogijn.nl/onderdelen/artikel/101/FEBI-BILSTEIN/21822/Stabilisatorlager-aan-draagarm I have no clue to the quality. Having experience with quite a few aftermarket parts from various brands, I've nev...

Re: Rear anti-roll bar bush sizes

Thanks Frog, that confirms 24mm for the front bushes which is good news. Number six on the first diagram I would call a tie rod, this would be to adjust toe in/out on the rear wheels via the eccentric adjuster. It's strange that the first diagram doesn't show the rear anti-roll bar, bushes and drop...

Re: Rear anti-roll bar bush sizes

It's time to do the ARB bushes on the rear Not sure what you mean with "rear anti roll bar", I think there are only droplinks on the rear (number "6" in the first picture). For the front ARB, the size seems to be 24mm. Here are the ServiceBox pictures that seem to be applicable to your model: DocBa...

Re: Rear anti-roll bar bush sizes

If you pass me the DAM number I can look up the part in my DocBackup DVD (copy of ServiceBox). The DAM number is found on a sticker on the door sill, see also: http://406coupeclub.org/Apps_BuildCodeTranslator.php

Out of curiosity, what do you do when it cuts out? Just pull over on the hard shoulder and wait for 10 minutes? :cheesy:

Re: Sudden loud rattle, engine cuts off, then restarts after a few minutes

My 2.2Hdi will die if I have too much with the throttle - it goes 'thud' and cuts out - takes about 10 mins for it to restart, then it's fine If this sounds like your issue I would like to know how to fix it too. Does this happen while driving? Or just when revving the engine while standing still? ...

Re: Sudden loud rattle, engine cuts off, then restarts after a few minutes

Drove back yesterday from the south of France, 1200 km, without missing a beat. Everything went perfect. The only strange noises came from the kids and the wife... Must say traffic was light, somehow that causes less stress on the accelerator pedal. Does this only happen under extreme load? Yes, ful...

Re: Sudden loud rattle, engine cuts off, then restarts after a few minutes

Thanks for all your thoughts on this, really appreciated! After the first incident I replaced the fuel filter, engine oil + filter, and drove 2 tanks empty with injector cleaner. At that time I suspected a leaking injector because of the overfuelling. Can injectors suddenly start leaking terribly, t...

Sudden loud rattle, engine cuts off, then restarts after a few minutes

Looking for anyone who can shed some light on a mysterious phenomenon. My apologies for this being a long story, but I'm not sure which details I can leave out. In March 2020 we were on our way back from a vacation trip, when suddenly upon an uphill acceleration a short but pretty loud rattle came f...

Re: Getting around the immobiliser

You would need an "immo off" version of the engine management computer (ECU). Like the one they are asking for at https://mhhauto.com/Thread-EDC15C2-Peugeot-406-2-0-HDI-immo-off . You could do this yourself, for that you need a flasher tool and software. I think your Kess V2 could be used for it. I ...

Re: Passed mot again!

Well the old girl lives to fight for another 12 months, passed the MOT today with just one advisory for a front fog lamp not working, 174k on the clock and still plodding on! 😊👍 I had a MOT fail due to a "fog lamp light beam too diffuse" (or something). So I removed the light bulbs and then the MOT ...

Re: Flywheel locking tool for 406 automatic

Thanks Frog, I'll check there first 👍 The car has recently been de-catted and was told that the lack of back pressure could cause some oil to seep past the turbo seals into the exhaust causing the smoke at idle, to be honest it smells more like diesel smoke due to the the low boost, I'm guessing so...
