Re: Replacing front anti roll bar bushes?
Been a while since I did mine, but I remember it being an easy job. If memory serves, you can reach 'em with the wheels off, and the bolt for the clamp is undone from underneath the subframe. That said, I might have actually done mine with the subframe dropped as part of a bigger job, so take the ab...

cyclists wiv HID's brighter than cars Haha that's me  Im my defence, country lanes (75% of my 25km cycle to work) I'm just using a bright-enough flashing light front and rear if it's light, or in the dark, both flashing lights and downward-aimed high power constant lights. In town streets wit...

securely chock the opposite wheels while you're changing them, and give them a spin. See if anything clunks while you're turning them by hand

Re: HDI bad when cold
But something that screams out at me for some reason is a wiring issue like a chafed wire or bad connector on the injector loom maybe. These PSA cars are bloody good for noticing shorts or open circuits - I know from experience the ECU would absolutely report something electrically wrong there. Are...

Re: iam back!!
The V6 should feel considerably quicker than a 2.1. Try pulling the hose from the bottom of the air filter housing (lift housing up then pop the pipe out). The fabric pipe which goes to the wheelarch can get pretty much destroyed and severely limit the ability of the engine to breathe Also check all...

ah ok I forgot the cloth seats were manual, and there are some pretty torquey motors in play. Still nowhere near 50kg though :P Good to see you, mjb, haven't seen you post in a while! How's things with you? Busy, skint, tired, and recovering from a nasty bout of bacterial tonsillitis with added ear ...

Re: Replacing House Central Heating System
I'm working on my central heating too... Current setup is a pretty large victorian house, massively overpowered (HELL YES!) boiler, a few TRVs dotted around, and a wireless non-timer 'stat. The house is big enough that there's really no good place for the thermostat, so my current plan is: 1. TRV ev...

Re: Ebay Etc. Just "Run-In" 406s
The S would be faster, purely on account of the lighter weight front seats, the lack of a JBL amp, and the lack of a pump for the headlamp washers. There's probably at least a 50kg difference. Surely you mean 5kg... The amp weighs as much as a dozen eggs, the pump as much as a car key, and I'll con...

HDI bad when cold
Hey guys, been a while. So so busy... :/ Had to ditch the wife's hdi136 C5 due to: an undiagnosed probably suspension failure causing the outsides of new tyres to wear to the wires in a couple of weeks  the need for another 2 tyres a very temperamental suspension pump - likes to blow fuses ne...

Re: Took the plunge.....
If the EGR pipe (leading to the Manifold) is caked in crud then doesn't it follow that the Inlet Manifold itself will be caked up inside? I've not noticed anyone say they've removed the IM to do further cleanage? It's very much on my todo list for the mrs' car, especially given the EGR pipe was com...

This is the first car I feel attached to for a long time What is it about 406s? Tell me about it... Despite the fact I do really like my bimmer, I still miss two of my 406s - the '97 exec turbo estate P126ONO (scrapped) http://www.botchitt.com/screens/406/2.jpg and my precious precious V6 coupé V81...

If it's not too unlike my 4.4 V8 bimmer of a similar age, it wouldn't cost that much - not that far off 2.2hdi economy in fact.lozz wrote:imagine running abig lump like that round town? that seriously take some coin to keep going for the fuel,.

I guess for me it's not so bad as I have a server running 24x7 so I have restricted the usage to only 50 percent and only the twilight hours Dependent on the CPU power of the server, the difference between idle and 100% can be a significant cost - a quad-socket xeon can pull as little as around 150...
