Re: Lucas Epic '97 406
As long as the mechanic can time the pump correctly you will be fine. The Bosch pump was fitted to all 1.9td 406's if that helps, its also in many other Pug/Citroen models. You could have a look through this thread- http://www.406oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22359&p=226870&hilit=Lucas+to+bosch#p226870

Re: Lucas Epic '97 406
I've done the conversion, well worth it but I'd imagine its expensive if you have to pay someone to do it. You basically need a Bosch pump off an XUD9t engine, injector pipes and Bosch injectors. While its all off change the cambelt, tensioner and water pump etc... I would also put some new glowplug...

Re: and today i have mostly been...
He was calling it a "cyclone" (he did tell me what it was actually called but I have the memory of a demented goldfish) but as it's angled it must put a turn into the air. How this helps before the turbo is anyone's guess. He called them Hyclones see here- www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID007136# l...

Re: Driveshaft not clicking into gearbox?
Did you tighten the hub nut up to the correct torque? The possible dodgy bush could explain the clunking but the speed related vibration in my mind has to be something rotating.

Re: Driveshaft not clicking into gearbox?
Could it be linked to when you changed the clutch? Or maybe an engine mount?

Re: Fuel pump / injector issue?
In tank fuel pump primes the system before starting, does it last for about 10sec then stop?

steve_earwig wrote:Ah, I did wonder about that. So possibly a previous tenant has recovered the plumbing and sold it for scrap.
I don't think its been weighed in as scrap, more likely that recent work on the house has been bodged

Re: and today i have mostly been...
Trying to unblock our internal soilpipe with a cheapo drain snake. After collecting half a Lidl bag of vampires t bags and baby wipes I phoned my good friend for advice. He suggested rigging up a jet hose. Off I trundled to Tesco (now 9.15pm) to buy a hose etc .. Picked one up with connectors for £6...

Re: Bosch pump jammed
I would try getting a container of diesel (warm if poss) putting the feed+primer directly into it. Remove the return, cover the area in rags then pump the diesel in by hand. The return has a 0.5mm hole in that bolt which maintains internal pressure, as you can imagine its very restrictive. If you ma...
