Re: Fuel Filler Flap

There should be a sprung pin that latches the filler flap. Sometime I've had this get stuck in and I've had to pop it out with a small screwdriver; worth a look, maybe someone pushed it away from the hole in which case you may be able to hook it with a length of wire. Thanks. I'll have a look but i...

Re: Fuel Filler Flap

It was just a little embarrassing to look in the wing mirror and see the fuel filler flap flapping about in the strong wind. Wanted to stop people syphoning my precious derv too, and is it not an MOT failure to not have a locking fuel cap? (though could get by with a Halfrauds universal lockable one...

Fuel Filler Flap

Hi, I have noticed that my fuel filler flap doesn't actually need the little lever to unlock, as it is never locked! It looks like there is something missing from the left hand side, some sort of a bar to keep the flap in place perhaps? Does anyone know how the locking mechanism should work? It was ...

Re: Radio Reception Problem ??

Try replacing the aerial; they're not dear, and I've heard of others on here with similar issues seeing massive improvements once they'd replaced theirs. My old 99 Xantia had similar issues, could barely pick up the 2 local stations and I'm in line of sight to the transmitter! Took an aerial off a ...

Re: Extra wire to the +ve battery terminal?

Thanks for your suggestions BruceT. Had a closer look today in a lull in the never-ending rain! There seems to be a similar loop connector end on the negative terminal on the bolt between the 2 sides of the terminal connector. I reckon you are right, the previous owner maybe had some wacky accessory...

Re: adting the wiring on my radio for mp3

Has anyone tried these CD changer to iPod adaptors? Are they any use? Do they charge the ipod? It would probably be useful to buy a mobile phone holder to hold the ipod in place too. Currently I use a Belkin iTrip FM transmitter. Works OK, the 406 seems to have a decent FM pickup, though I do get ra...

Re: fuel gauge

Not sure if it's a similar fuel float, but my old Citroen ZX diesel once reported 1/4 of a tank as I took off from Edinburgh to Stirling. It was only halfway up the M9 that it decided that it would actually show the fuel light. The only petrol station I knew was back at Newbridge so turned round at ...

Re: Extra wire to the +ve battery terminal?

Last night I couldn't see any stray wires coming from the MAF / throttle pot. Tried to take pictures on the phone but they didn't come out well as it was dark. Will hopefully get some sunlight this weekend. The idle seems fine. I remember the 1.8 petrol Xantia I had once had idle issues. Sorted with...

Re: Extra wire to the +ve battery terminal?

Yes that's the one, closest to the engine bay.

I hadn't really been poking round the battery until today.

Hopefully the previous owner hasn't snipped the MAF due to issues. I'll take a look tonight.

Extra wire to the +ve battery terminal?

Hi all, Newbie here just registered. My 406 is a 2002 HDi 90, Rapier spec. I am going to start by asking for a bit of info, google hasn't got the answer, and I tried searching the forum but can't see any info. Earlier on I was helping jumpstart a neighbours car. When we got it running, I took off th...
