Re: and today i have mostly been...

Ah well, it's probably for the best. I reckon the fag smell was its worst defect, even if they replaced the engine (ha ha) they always stink of fags, even if you steam clean the interior leave it in the sun for a few hours and it'll be back. Btw what happened to that Dacia thing? Which one? Our 201...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

Well Renegade N°2 didn't go ahead. Externally the car was immaculate, but when I opened the door I was hit by a strong smell of fags. After the salesman insisting they don't sell cars that have been smoked in, I showed him the collection of tobacco and fag ash in the drivers door and he started to b...

Gone with option 3, picking the new Jeep up tonight. Wish us luck

Interestingly, same engine block as the early BMW Mini's but with a 16v head. Wonder how easy it would be to swap the Cooper S bottom end over and feed the engine some extra air. :supafrisk:

Re: and today i have mostly been...

My Wife and I purchased a 2018 Jeep Renegade around two weeks ago. It's a 1.6 e.Torq (basically a Tritec engine with a 16v head) with a 5 speed manual box and front wheel drive only. It's only got 9,000miles on the clock and is absolutely immaculate. 24 hours after purchasing I was pulling off (gent...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I fully expect that my mower frame will rust out long before the engine fails. Frame? Usually they're just a steel housing, moist grass makes them rot through. When I first bought this Atko I painted the underside with underseal, which soon peeled off, so I've since been giving it a clean a...

I don't worry about it. But it gives me the warm fuzzy feeling inside. I fully expect that my mower frame will rust out long before the engine fails.

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I've got into the habit of putting the lawnmower up on crates after my last cut of the year, undoing the drain plug and just leaving it drain until the first cut of the following year. Usually use a 15w40 heavy duty engine oil or a monograde SAE30. Fuel is my biggest issue, on two occasions I've had...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I was reading something on AS the other day about DIY - a guy was moaning that his wife would see his time spent maintaining cars and the house as his 'Me Time' or otherwise enjoying* himself at the expense of her own 'needs'. He spent a whole weekend re-roofing their flat roofed Garage to save mon...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

I recently did the timing belt & waterpump on the Saab. I used a vacuum kit to fill the system, it created a vacuum in the cooling system and then 'sucks' the coolant in from a reservoir. Before starting the engine I used a Lisle funnel that gives you a head around a foot higher than the expansion t...

If it helps, my Fathers 2012 320d which he had from brand new and got rid of a few months ago was totally faultless during his ownership and it finished up with 150k+ on the clock.

Absolute nonsese. So my Euro 6 Volvo V40 wouldn't be welcome but I could take my 16 year old 3.0 V6 ST220.

Auto boxes are getting better, the ZF 8HP my Father had in his 2012 320d and now Alfa Giulia is absolutely amazing. You don't feel any gear changes and it always seems to be in the perfect gear, all the time. What I find even more surprising is how different the 'boxes operate despite being the same...

Re: and today i have mostly been...

We had two cats which we had to get rid of before Christmas. Our little dude has allergies and his allergy specialist advised that he was most definitely allergic to cats and we should get rid of ours as soon as possible. Well, my Missus went into Mother-Mode and they were dropped off to a local cat...

I spend a fair bit of time working around the Costwolds and noticed a lot of farmers moving over to Dusters, certainly their Wives etc. Unfortunately the Duster will only pull 1500kg so I can't see them being the complete solution.
