Re: De-fapping a 407

You'll need access to a Galletto 1260 or similar. If you send me a copy of your ecu file, I can make the nasty dpf function go away. :supafrisk: Even for a 407, doggy? Can you also improve fuel economy somehow via the map itself or would I have to take it to a garage to do that? Technically i...

De-fapping a 407

Hey guys! Well the question of the day is how do you defap a 407 2 litre HDI - is it possible, is it safe, is it cheap and what options are there to improve fuel economy on one of them? Sorry for the load of questions but the Astra isn't that comfy and spacious inside so looking along the lines of a...

Re: My New Car

It can't be that adorable - nobody was interested in buying it. :( My old man was interested in it but you were talking to bayles and plod 'bout it so he went and got a nasty Astra thing instead :( Admittedly it is a 2006 1.7 CDTI 6 speed, probably the most sought-after model, is quicker and more e...

Re: Travis Bickles new project, Started with pics.

Well ive not been on for a bit, but finally got rid of the estate after cutting it all up into boot sized pieces only using a big chisel, hammer and a hacksaw! Got the entire wiring loom out intact so thats a bonus. Ive stripped the back out of the xsara and according to the weigh bridge at work it...

Re: drop links

the work was done inside the time limit allowed but how come he could miss it first time but miraculously fail it a second had to get the garage to fit me a pair of shafts at a cost £270 but he retested after that for free (feeling guilty) Another £270? Mate why didn't you go somewhere else?

Re: 406 TROUBLE STARTING??

Do you allow it several seconds on ignition before you attempt starting it? That's when the glow-plugs switched on on the old XUD so I have no idea if they do as well on the TD.

Re: mileage... clocks or ecu ?

splitting the clocks is definatley a good choice, i followed the guide off the coupe club, its definatley the best way to avoid the mileage problem. ive already split them once when i had a "sticky back plastic" affair  just to realise that i would be covering every warning light possible, so ...

Re: Insurance costs 90 v 110

HDi 110 / 136 = 31mph/1000 ~ 2250 RPM @ 70 mph 8) Thats goto be great for long distance driving! Only 250rpm less than the HDi90 but bet it makes a difference! It does - my previous Xsara HDi 90 had the lower ratio & used to drone a bit at anything much over 75. 31 mph/1000 feels too low on mine - ...
