Re: 2002 Peugeot 406 Coupe 2.2 Petrol - 116k miles, Scarlet
I was originally looking for around £1000 but £750 would see it in your possession. Whereabouts are you located?

I chucked a Yuasa battery in the Coupe a year or two ago because the old one decided "Naaaah" one cold morning when I tried to go to work. Can't say much more about it other than "it's still working fine".

Re: Time For Change
It's a VERY GOOD JOB you're getting this done under warranty, I bet they'll be looking at over £500.00 for this repair. Agreed! Though it does make me worry A LOT about what will happen once they say "here's your car back, it's now past the statute of returns under Sale of Goods Act, you're on your...

Re: Time For Change
So that went well. Less than 2 weeks in, I start getting a sort of light juddering on idle, but fine when driving. 2 days layer, I get the Engine Management Light. *sigh* Out comes the trusty generic ODB2 reader, which tells me that the mixture is running lean on bank 1 and bank 2. A quick bit of Go...

Re: 3.0 V6
The early engine (ES9J4) has 194 HP. The later engine has 210 HP and variable valve timing; PSA asked Porsche to tune up the cylinder head for the engine, and the result was the more powerful ES9J4S unit. When fitted to the 406, the ES9J4S also has an additional bank of catalytic converters (pre-cat...

First thing I checked was if the original owner had ticked the optional extra for "directional indication lights". Oddly enough, he had - bonus!
I even use them

Re: Time For Change
I like the 5's and may* have eyed up 535d's from time to time after someone told me how shiftily they shift. The 6 cylinder petrol is butter-smooth, and the acceleration is very deceptive as the cabin noise deadening material is very good. Just apply a little pressure on the gas pedal, glance at th...

Re: Time For Change
It's surprisingly good on fuel, actually - probably to do with having a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The MPG gauge showed high 30s - 50+ on the cruise on the way back. Actually better than the Coupe in places.
I'll be keeping an eye on it as time goes on.
I nearly bought a 745i ...

Re: Time For Change
Not sure I'm old enough to have a Volvo yet, Steve! The BMW is actually an epic cruiser; I'm quite enjoying it already. It has some features the Coupe didn't have built-in (front and rear parking sensors, push-button start, Bluetooth hands-free), but lacks some that it did (the seats seem to be manu...

Time For Change
Hello all, I've just posted an ad for my Coupe on the "For Sale/Wanted" section I've had the pleasure of being the custodian of this beautiful and rewarding car since November 2010, so nearly 7 years - the longest I've owned any car. It's not always been plain sailing, but I've absolutely loved Coup...

2002 Peugeot 406 Coupe 2.2 Petrol - NOW SOLD
For sale: My beloved Coupe :( A lot of love and money has been applied to this car during the near 7 years I've owned it; I've thoroughly enjoyed owning it, but I feel it is time to move on, so I've bought a newer car and now my Coupe needs to go to a new home. As a long term lurker on the Coupe for...

Re: 406coupeclub
The site is up again Reading through the boards to try and find the "What the hell happened" post at the moment. It's been offline for around 5 days. Edit: Found it! Around 3 weeks ago we as a club started to notice that the website would intermittently be unavailable approximately every 6-12 hours....

I know they've had server troubles lately. The last post I saw on the forum was that they'd secured a new host, or at least, had begun the process of migrating to a new virtual server. I don't know contact info for anyone actually in charge across there, so I don't really have any idea what's happen...

Ooh, that's a point. You mentioned having used Peugeot Planet 2000 software on your old car. Might be worth using it on this - I know on my car, the throttle position can be read live via ODB2 using a generic reader. It might be worth trying to see what the minimum and maximum throttle position perc...
