Re: Auto lights doing my head in!!

Any chance I can come and visit you in Bournemouth over the week beginning the 11th, I'd appreciate it if you could plug in pp for me and give it a try?

Re: Auto lights doing my head in!!

I don't think so, I fitted it and everything works 100%. But I'm sure it was broken beforehand.

Re: Auto lights doing my head in!!

So the bsi could be the fault? It's also worth mentioning that if I plug in trailer lighting, they go out much sooner, sub 5 minutes.

Re: Auto lights doing my head in!!

Hm, I think there's just a single click as if you'd turned them off manually. I shall listen today.

Re: Auto lights doing my head in!!

Maybe I'm missing something, but as far as I'm aware, if you turn the headlights via the stalk, they're on regardless of what the auto function does or doesn't do. That's the thing though, even turned on manually, the system is overriding that and turning off the lights, no matter what settings I u...

Re: Auto lights doing my head in!!

That's the thing, it does it at night on sark country lanes too. Which is really scary :(

I'm also wondering if it's the com port. If it is then I'll just rewire the lot.

Re: Auto lights doing my head in!!

Pp simply won't talk to the ecu. At all :(

Really stumped here, the auto lights seem to be working, but the inner set of dipped beam and the tail lights are just turning themselves off at random.

Re: Auto lights doing my head in!!

So I've tried every combination under the sun to get PP to talk to the car, and it just won't. This is now fast becoming a dangerous issue as I can't get all the way to work without the lights turning themselves off. I'm considering ripping the whole lot out and fitting a stalk from an older model, ...

Oh dear :( who suggested petrol in a HDi?

In my experience that's a bad idea, how much did you put in?

Re: Would you ever buy a modified car?

At the end of the day, I would, and have, bought modified cars, but I'd have to really like what had been done to it, as I'd rather do the work myself. That said, the only cars I've ever bought standard, (even after a very good look over them) have turned out to be utter dogs. My 406 included, there...

Re: Hdi Maf and Smoke test Fail

How hard does the car get driven? I'd make my first check a damn good rev when stationary, you'll probably get a LOT of smoke. Go for a hard drive for 8-10 miles or so, using all of the revs a few times, and full throttle wherever possible. When you get back, try another hard rev when stationary, I'...

Re: Auto lights doing my head in!!

Nah I mean if the auto lights are on or off, and if I use sidelights and or dipped beam. I'll try pp later.

Re: Auto lights doing my head in!!

So it would also appear that no matter what settings I use, the rear lights go out after a minute or so. The only way to get them to come back on is to turn them off and back on. :x

Cut and weld the arms? Just swap the fittings fron the end basically.
