I hit "foreign drivers" 'cos that's all we've got here... Ok, it says Great Britain but they're pretty darn lousy and I can't imagine one lasting long on UK roads: absolutely must overtake the car in front at all costs! - blind bends, brows of hills, cars stopped at pedestrian crossings*, oncoming P...

Which is why ppl should hold their car on the handbrake not the footbrake... I'm not sure if that would make any difference, the footbrake squeezes the disk while the handbrake, if over-applied, will deform the whole thing. I think the problem is heat, that and shoddy materials - on the D9 the l/h ...

I don't blame you for going somewhere else to have the job done. I'm happy with Pug doing it here though as I trust them more than a local garage. Or should I say mistrust them less? I bottled out anyway, I'll have to drive it to get it to Peugeot but I decided that's my next journey. I cycled home ...

Words of warning: HDI 110, it's the knurled ring you turn auntyclockwise, as viewed from above, if you try to turn the top you will need a new housing as it's slotted into the bottom half and you will mangle it. Use an oil filter strap wrench, it's very tight! I did mine the first time a few weeks b...

Hmm, noisy at anything above idle all the time, lessens on overrun and seems to change pitch and quieten at about 4k, which is why I thought it was a leaky hydraulic tappet jacking up. So, driving it home (very slowly) tonight (it's that or a 2 hour walk), my other half will ring up Pug tomorrow (I ...

Re: We all love 406's but what do you hate about them?
Ooh, not just me then... The handbrake Or should that be The Handbrake of Stupidity? Do they ever work? I had a Nissan (first and last time, yuck) which had a handbrake so good I reckon it'd be on it's roof before the wheels turned. My clutch My D9 too, so hard to get a smooth change. The scabby boo...

Well, I guess I should have trawled about on here a bit more, seems like it's a common issue. The trouble is I can't see any actual swarf in there and there does seem to be a lot of clatter from the top end with the 710 cap off. Best to get the belt sorted asap & I reckon they can check pulley/tappe...

Me again. I just found this: So, your normally smooth-running Hdi sounds like it's suffering an injector tick or tappet rattle. If it sounds VERY rattly STOP DRIVING IT NOW!! It's more than likely the front crankshaft pulley. Citroen/Peugeot in thier infinite wisdom have come up with a pulley with a...

Hello from Croatia!
Hi there, I'm a Brit living abroad. I'm sort of retired (i.e. I figured out how don't to go to work for someone else anymore). Anyway, after thrashing about in a '98 2.1 estate for three years I decided to get a newer one, hence '04 2.0 HDI estate (I can't understand why people buy saloons or coupes...
