How good are the autoboxes on the 2.0 HDi engines?
I recently got a pup and am thinking of replacing my 607 with an estate either a 406 or Xantia, but have seen a few SE estates with the autobox. Just wondering if the diesels got the same 4HP20 box that the V6s got?

Re: HOW TO INSTALL A USB MODULE IN A CLARION CASSETTE PLAYER
I have installed one of these in my 607, £4 wasn't a bad price. The 607 radio is nearly identical to the 406 radio bar the front fascia, which doesn't have as easy an aperture to glue in the modules facia. Just a few pictures in focus to add some clarity: The two areas on the bottom of the radio mai...

Re: Warning to Photobucket Users
I wonder has the prevalence of facebook groups for various cars meant less traffic for forums? I find it handy when out in the shed to ask a question on a FB group using the phone rather than waiting to use a computer. Having said that then there is no secure place for good information or discussion...

Re: Missing the 406
The 406 is back together and ready for an Mot. One slight issue... while flushing out be old coolant into a bucket there were blobs of oil present, it was almost like grease in its consistency. Bugger How likely is it that the oil cooler has went rather than the HG? Is the oil cooler best tested by ...

Re: Missing the 406
Got the aluminium part fitted, there is a bracket that sits beside it which holds the fuel rail, dipstick, engine cover and pipe bracket. This has to be removed and replaced with steel parts off a hdi 90 http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac289/406executiveHDI/406brakes/BA185561-4779-4566-803A-65155...

Re: Missing the 406
The rear pipe on this was held in with a bolt, subframe out and it still took a fair bit of stripping, seems the plastic part has a seal inside where it splits apart: http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac289/406executiveHDI/406brakes/E1022185-D434-4E8D-A07A-5849063FAFE1_zpsrpop51xt.jpg http://i908.p...

Missing the 406
I am going to put my 406 back on the road, the 607 is a grand big barge for peanuts but they are by no means an entertaining machine to pilot, nor is mine particularly easy to run. Some recommissioning is ongoing. The brakes require going over i have new disks and pads, rebuild kits for the rear cal...

Re: More french chod
I heard about a diesel one but wasnt too interested, so made some enquiries and got this one. A 3.0 12V PRV auto What i like about it is how good the suspension is, its incredibly smooth yet seems to remain very flat. There is some sort of electronic dampner setup going on, much better riding than t...

Re: Electrics all off
Changed the 2nd battery last night and it solved the problems!
Strange that it was so well hidden, i couldnt see any second battery on the wiring diagrams and the pp2000 did not mention low voltage
Anyhow it means the engine can be swapped now

Re: Electrics all off
Just been reminded about the 2nd battery some of the 607s had, worth checking that as its a bells and whistles model. The battery currently in it is not brand new, it goes between cars i have but i keep it charged and it seems to work. It seems something BSI related I have a full Sedre disk on my co...

Electrics all off
A 607 question :supafrisk: Before starting the car nothing electrical works, including the horn, Hazzard lights, main beam flasher, central locking and radio, even turning the key to the position before starting up the lights on the dash do not show up. Which in my other 607 all work when required. ...

Re: More french chod
Very nice. Love the cream leather. I very briefly drove one belonging to a chap who came for a PP2k session. Vanilla 2.2. You certainly wouldn't want to be dragging it around with a 2.0 110. I had a go in a 2.0 110 a few years back, it felt underpowered. The 2.2 in its standard state is no ball of ...

Flickering lights
A question about the alternator. If the headlights flicker when changing gear and allowing the revs to drop is it the regulator that is at fault? It was one of the reasons i stopped driving my 406, the battery charge fault came on. http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac289/406executiveHDI/3gs/607/IMG...
