Re: Oil extractor question

I see 'Pela' oil pumps talked about with enthusiasm on the Volvo Forum. TBH I want one because it's a proper PITA wrestling with the undertray and last time I did it on my cold concrete floor it made me feel quite ill with the near constant little knocks to the noggin :( & This is why I'm less enth...

Re: Oil extractor question

Mityvac 7201,

Not cheep but a brilliant bit of kit.

There are cheeper but you get what you pay for

JB Tools seem the cheepest, the MV7400 should be enough for your needs

The Sealey S01169 might be enough @ 6.5 litres & a bit cheeper still at Toolbay.

Re: Is it too late for a change?

:) Bailes's 'magic gearbox potions' has got to be worth a go? you do hear about so many slushmatics being fixed with better fluid. Our local corner shop keeper used to have a 535d I think in 2008 when it was quite new, he said on the motorway it was stonking and silly numbers would come up on the sp...

Re: Is it too late for a change?

Balies, I think your man maths needs recalibrating  The mk3 Mondeo has a 58.5 L tank capacity Now at 55 litre fill up of 'Shells finest' would mean your paying £1.64 per litre  V power round my way is £1.20 Even if you squeezed 60 litres in, I make it £72 & 200 miles to a tank, 58.5 litr...

Re: MOT failed need part advice

Look up, I did say no 13 in the diagram that Steve posted up. Yeah I noticed it was the same part. Don't forget what I said about the elliptical washers & bolts, you will need them (trust me) Yeah, it's straight forward enough, but you will need to get proper rear wheel alignment done after. Ellipt...

Re: MOT failed need part advice

Steve, my tester mark's the failed part's with a yellow paint pen. That sounds like a great idea, unless it's a part you can only see with the car up on a lift... :supafrisk: You can, pop of the rear wheel & it's staring at you. There nothing on my car I can't get to without a four poster lift :rol...

Re: Is it too late for a change?

DDD - the 535 is too much maintenance? what else needs doing? I'd imagine you being pretty good at keeping up with all the usual stuff. Welters old boy, nah not too much maintenance BUT it's bleading me dry. The part's cost's  Now don't get me wrong, I did do my homework (but not enough as i...

Re: MOT failed need part advice

Is this the part you are referring to? https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/p/ocap-suspension-arm-600735208 Never mind, been back to the garage and confirmed, this is the part. Why they have put it down as a ball joint is beyond me!! Every place online calls it a suspension link bar or anti roll bar lin...

Re: MOT failed need part advice

The antirollbar link is plastc (I think) and has a balljoint each end, we can't look up the parts diagrams any more so I can't tell you the proper name for the other link but it controls track (& trace?) and camber. A quick search later... yeah, there are loads of sites listing it as the antirollba...

Re: MOT failed need part advice

It'll be the one for adjusting the rear tow, I got mine from Eurocarparts, but carparts4less are there sister company & cheeper The part is know as suspension arm rear, it has a ball joint one end & a bolted joint the other where the offset bolt goes. It's advisable to source new adjustment bolts, o...

Re: Is it too late for a change?

Thanks for the reply, Yeah, the one I've been offered is a good one, f.f.s.h ten stamps Very nice condition, not the usual battered heap, two private owners from new 06 with 86k. But the fuel, I put £75 a time in the 535 & get 450 min just knocking around Going up to 550 to 600 on a good motorway ru...
