Re: 2.2 HDi The Next Generation

Looks really nice mate. Can't say I'm overly shocked at you buying it though as you've been hankering after one for ages. Hope the reality lives up to your expectations. Never driven a 2.2 170, but drove them when they first came out with the 2.0 136 & the power on that was good enough for me. I ask...

Re: Compatibility

Swap the 7 seat conversion over, rob any bits of trim that may be broken on the new one (basically putting the best of everything on the one you're keeping) & just sell Miss Pug as a cheap runaround estate. If it's got MOT & it runs, you'll usually score £500 from somebody for it. Probably safe to s...

Re: ALLOYS

They do look a wee bit silly, but not ridiculous. As far as the kerbing risk goes, it depends on how you paralell park. I tend to line the wheels up against the kerb anyway, so the position of the wheels themselves make no difference to me. If you really want to reduce the risk of kerb damage, the b...

Re: ALLOYS

They're 307 wheels. Theoreticall they'll fit as somebody had a set on a certain low mileage 1.8 LX that met with a crusher, but they will sit inside the arches more than 406 wheels should.

Re: Are Citroen Picassos any good?

We nearly bought one before we bought the Partner. Very good use of interior space even if they aren't too pretty. There's a place in Hook called ARO that specialises in them & the guy that runs it knows a lot about them & is quite friendly & honest. They're always advertising on Autotrader, so shou...

One that hasn't had a big shunt would probably be a bonus too.

Re: Do I need spacers?

I'm with Welly - always best to try & avoid spacers where possible. The less parts there are between the wheel & the hub, the less there is to wobble loose. Besides, even if they did look a bit inboard, most cars look a bit funny with Winter tyres on anyway, mainly because it almost looks like they'...

Re: New Project

Absolutely brilliant news, well done John 8) Looking forward to parking next to my old car at a future meet :P Was that through gritted teeth Dai? I'd be fuming if I'd left such a tidy motor dormant for so long only to find that it could actually be fixed within a week! In all serious tho...

The plugs do pull out, but they're really tight the first time.

Re: 406 and 307 steel wheels the same

Massive difference in offset between 406s & 307s on the alloys (13mm). Can't see any reason why the steels would be any different.

Re: That's a nice car....

I was dead set on getting a 407 Coupe or a C5. It was only by chance the misses made me take a MK4 Mondeo out I realised how much nicer to drive they are! Mmmmm, funny you should mention that. Last night, I was picked up for a night out in a friend's MK4 10 plate Mondigo 2.0 163bph(?), Titanium.......

Re: Why I absolutley despise the modern diesel engine.

Preaching to the choir Sam. Every modern diesel I drive feels like it's been "petrolised" with a narrow power band at the top of the rev range (with the added bonus of being utter sh*te when pulling away from standstill. It's been going on for years though. My HDi 110 was pretty quick, but not a pat...

108mm PCD & I'm pretty sure it's a 20-25mm offset.

Re: How to swap from single seat to split rear seat...

Lining up the backrest is definitely one of those jobs where you need 4 hands as you need to hold it in place while fitting the bolt in, but don't remember it being that much of a nightmare. You are locating the brackets on the lugs before doing the bolts nearest the door aren't you? As far as the b...
