Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën

Queueing on the motorway was not as comfortable (the clutch in the 407 can get a bit tedious) as I had anticipated. I consider it bad form to hold it on the brake pedal as the brake lights are unpleasant for the person behind (not that any other f*cker seems to give a f*ck), but it takes an age to g...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën

Yeah, it bust while I was trying to undo it. "Bloody hell that's tight" I thought. And then suddenly it went very loose. First full 300 mile round trip today. 55.3mpg (AM) and 50.3MPG (PM) on the trip computer. Just as I arrived this happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4ETR4IFxeM At first I n...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën

Gut feeling is that even with the disc off there won't be anything to get hold of. http://www.406oc.co.uk/download/file.php?mode=view&id=3674 I don't think I've ever had an MOT that didn't say Brake disc worn, pitted, or scored, but not seriously weakened. I have some new front discs and pads for th...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën

Finally got it back! Passed its MOT so went to pick it up and left the 407 parked at the mechanic's. Don't really fancy walking through the woods in the dark to go and get the 407 so it looks like I'm in the C6 to Newbury and back tomorrow! The plot thickens: * looks like the front bumper has been o...

Autumn 2019 meet up?

Some suggestions: Imperial War Museum, Duxford near Cambridge. £20. Maltings near Shrewsbury, although £15 seems a bit steep National Brewery Centre in Burton upon Trent. £12. If we can get organised then we might be able to do a group tour and beer tasting for £10 each. (This is my favourite.) Plea...

Re: PP2000 flagged fault

Good find on the docs. But I'm not sure there are any resistors. I think it's done with magnets. Maybe some Hall effect thing. Anyway: here's what's inside it: http://www.406oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19303&p=191872 Mine ate throttle position sensors. In the end I had a cycle of two of them: one o...

Re: New car suggestions

IIRC Sam had a Dacia and liked it. (I have no idea what size they are.)

A former colleague wanted a 4x4y thing and and he was very sensible and got himself a Kia or something like that.
But when he found out he liked it he ditched it for a V8 rangerover.

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën

Finally got it up on the ramp. So a previous repair has been bodged rather badly. They used some quite stiff plastic hose and left it rubbing against the driveshaft. IMG_20190712_111912.jpg Citroen want £350 for a complete pipe set, and because of all the rigid pieces in it it's probably impossible ...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën

Hard drive replacement "should" be straightforward... but I think we said that before. I'd be surprised if you could find an RT5 with bluetooth; they are the holy grail! There's a guy on the 407 Facebook group who's been after one for months, and it's unclear how much loom is different with bluetoot...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën

Been to see Mechanic yesterday and he says he's scheduled it for Tuesday. He's an expert in the folding hard tops and has been inundated since we had some warm weather, and I guess that's nicer work. I'm anticipating being asked to find a replacement pipe, but ServiceBox doesn't seem to list one so ...

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?

198,500 on the 407 today. Got it at 74,000 (6.5 years old). Had it for 5.5 years. 86k on the 406 when I got it (and it was only 3 years old). Took it to 205k. Had it for 8 years. I still miss the arm rest. The 406 was definitely in better condition when I got it than was the 407. At 200k and 12 year...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën

The docs from ServiceBox available via c6owners.org state JSW3309 so its having this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252154965984 What I've read suggests that it has a 9L capacity but only 4L is drainable beause the rest is in the torque converter. Ideally, yes, I need to find a way of doing it so that ...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën

I read that as RHF which I believe is what most 2.0 407s are. Without a DPF in X-Line and Zenith trim levels! I think it's basically the 2.0 block with the 16 valve head and VNT from the 2.2 406s, but with a Siemens or Delphi injection system. I believe it's the Delphi that doesn't have the intercoo...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën

It's the 2.7 V6 HDi which are known for dropping their coolant from any of: a metal pipe near the front passenger wheel that corrodes, split inlet manifold, split thermostat housing. And there's no level sensor (possible retrofit from a 407, but I noticed yesterday that most 407s don't have the leve...

The wonky £1K citron Citroën

Well maybe not quite that bad... but not far off. Plan A was to just turn up with it at Pugfest because I thought that would be funny, but that didn't come off so it's time to come clean. http://www.406oc.co.uk/download/file.php?mode=view&id=3632 http://www.406oc.co.uk/download/file.php?mode=view&id...
