I have generally found the EU tyre labels to be a good guide.
That's a bargain for new premium tyres.
Bloody double that for the 215/55/17 XL on the 407.

Re: ordered new tyres ?
EU tyre label is C (efficiency), B (wet), 68.
C is a bit low. 68 is excellent.
So I'd expect those to feel nice.

Re: Reliability
That does seem exceptionally unlucky.
I took my 406 HDi 90 to 205k and my 407 2.2 HDi has just rolled past 210k.
The only other variable I can thin of is how it's been treated by previous owners -- perhaps in particular when it was new?

Re: 406 2.0 hdi TPS
My HDi 90 used to eat TPSs. Eventually I had a cycle of two of them: one on the car and one being cleaned out. The ones that came off felt gritty -- I expect due to their location in the engine bay. Here's what I found: http://www.406oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19303&p=191878 You can expect parts w...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
And another day five of us had to go to an excruciatingly awful meeting in Cheltenham. And back. That was long day. Oooohhh - tell me more :cheesy: Someone f*cked up right? had to explain/defend themselves in front of an important income provider? income provider   In the 13 years I've be...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
The bosses swapped their Jag and Subaru for his and hers Priuses (Prii?) in 2006 when they decided to feign fuck-giving about the environment. I once went from Newbury to Liverpool which felt like a long journey. I did notice that the engine was running more more than I had anticipated. The interior...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
Been and had another go at this wheel bolt that I sheared off. http://www.406oc.co.uk/download/file.php?mode=view&id=3677 The good news is that the other bolts aren't sticking tight now they've got a dab of copper slip on them. Got a cobalt drill bit which is supposed to be good for hardened steel, ...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
My neighbour has one of those on his Pickarsehole. 1.6 HDi, just to add insult to injury. I've been round to have Diagbox on it. Which was pretty pointless since by the sounds of it our local independent former Citroen tech (who is BRILLIANT ) has already condemned it as f*cked -- as they say in the...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
It's smooth enough -- I lose count of what gear it's in. So I've got the gear displayed on FAP now. (BTW I believe this app works on 406s -- it's PSA specific.) http://www.406oc.co.uk/download/file.php?mode=view&id=3676 You can see it changing down as you slow down. Had a quick blast in sport mode r...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
New air filter. That took a bit of getting in to. Oil change using the sucker only got about 3l out. It was bad. Dipstick is useless; it smears all over on the way out but computer says OIL OK so I guess I'll just have to take its word for it. Turns out the oil filter is 32mm not 27mm so couldn't do...

Re: The wonky £1K citron Citroën
Good idea. I'll have a look...
Fords have always had difficult manuals. The cars are bad enough (we had a Mk V Fiesta from new that had very noisy synchros) but the tractors are impossible.
