Re: Welly in Audi A3 'up my chuff' shocker

Boo to the idiot in the BMW (Driving without due care I reckon) hooray to the rear view cam. Is your motor ok? My car is fine. He actually stopped before making contact with my bodywork, but my tow ball sure made a mess of his front end. (I think he must have bent something structural as it seemed ...

Re: Welly in Audi A3 'up my chuff' shocker

Out and about yesterday, I stopped at a crossroad. (Major road crossing in front.) Saw the guy coming up behind in, yes, you guessed, a BMW 5 series. A shriek of tyres, and then an almighty crash, but the car hardly moved on its suspension. (I had put my foot down hard on the brakes, as well as alre...

Re: A lucky escape

I remember seeing similar photos some years ago when a guy was sandwiched in his Volvo 340. In that instance it was the strength of the body that ensured his survival. Volvo paid him to use the photos and his story as part of their sales campaign. I don't remember seeing any Volvo literature with th...

Re: new tyres?

I keep hearing about people paying over the odds for fitting etc on Internet bought tyres.
I generally try to use a local tyre shop for tyre purchases. I have not yet paid what I consider any more than buying on Internet, and the service has always been impeccable.

Re: Estate Rear Tyres Uneven Wear

I changed the front drop links recently, and I found that cleaning the exposed thread with a wire brush and WD40, then running a nut along the thread to make sure it was clean helped in getting the old nut off. FWIW I also found that a T40 was a better fit in the end of the shaft than the 5mm Allen ...

Re: Fuel Prices falling?

From the late 70s into the early 80s petrol sat at 99.9p per gallon for years. This was because the USA subsidized the cost to screw with Russia's economy, as part of the Cold War. After this period, petrol went up to 150p per gallon very quickly, and has been going up ever since. I have been told t...

I have a scrolling message board and one of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-ball-and-pin-towing-hitch-coupling-4-0-Ton-capacity-E-approved-/271718488168?pt=UK_Trailers_Transporters_Parts&hash=item3f43af1868 If anyone begins to get too close, I start to brake. Re: Fuel Prices falling?

I just paid 109.9 for diesel locally. So it should be a little cheaper at the place I usually buy it. (The Shell garage just north of M25 J21A)

Re: Mini Countryman

I was round one of my friend's houses, when another of his friends turned up. He had just taken delivery of his new Mini and had brought it round to show. He had just paid £24,000 for it!!! I bought my first Mini in the mid-60s, and it was a fun car to drive. I had my second and last in the early 80...

Re: Foglights adjustment

Are they foglamps or driving lamps? If fog lamps, they want angling down slightly to illuminate the road underneath any fog or mist. If they are driving lamps, they should point straight ahead as your main beams. However, there is an element of personal choice as long as they don't dazzle oncoming d...

Re: Don't forget to check your antifreeze!

A friend decided to service his Fiesta over the holiday, and when he removed the air filter box, he found large mounds of grunge where his top core plugs should be. Panic to get hold of replacements before his holiday ended.

Re: Changing glow plugs

Not necessarily. The injector pipes and probably the pump would be full, but the minute the air enters the pump it will just try to compress hence engine stoppage. Then as the fuel begins to arrive, it will try to run on a mix of air and fuel, and as the fuel begins to arrive en masse, it would run ...

Re: Changing glow plugs

The starting and cutting out is usually down to an air leak allowing the fuel to run back to tank. Once it has started, it should keep going regardless of glow plug performance.

What Did Your Car Get For Xmas?

Mine got new front brake hoses, and new battery connections. I have a top cover on order as there is a faulty seal somewhere that is letting the rain in.
