4) Your PC, unless the client is configured not to do this, will run at 100% CPU/GPU load, all the time .... it will mean the PC is consuming a lot more power Just want to emphasise this. If you leave the computer on 24/7 running one of these things, you'll be paying probably around £20-£50/month m...

Re: 406 2.2HDi 2002 Imobilised

This is going to sound crazy but two people on the Coupe forum tried this within 48 hours of each other and it worked both times: "What he asked me to do was to disconnect the battery, turn the key in the ignition as if I were starting it - hold for 10 seconds, switch off, switch on - hold for 10 s...

My jack used to *just* fit under the coupé with some nudging, but most of the time I either drove up on ramps to get started, or used another jack to lift one side a bit

The rug ended up at the tip

Re: First Oil Change - Never Done This Before!

If your jack's big enough, here's the best way to lift the car: http://www.botchitt.com/screens/406coupe/clutch_change/03_subframe.jpg Just jack it up here (be careful to get the subframe, not the thin little bit behind it) then put your axle stands under the jacking points on the sills. Depending o...

Indeed - there's no faults showing on the missus' car, even though the EGR pipe is blocked by means of being jammed full of oily crud

Re: 3L V6 Engine Stabiliser Bush

Probably means the top mount - 14 on the diagram. Piece of cake to change. Stick a jack under the sump, lift it just enough to take the pressure. Remove the bracket - 10 on the diagram. Unscrew the top mount - will need a hammer and screwdriver to get it started, then screw the new mount in, put the...

Never make assumptions about the sanity (or sobriety!) of PSA designers. If they can do something differently, there's a good chance they will... just because.

Re: E10 Unleaded Fuel

Surely if they wanted to lower CO2 emmisions then they would say all new Petrol cars in 3 years time must be able to run on E100! And they would say that in 3 years all diesel cars must be capable of running on B100 Ideally that's what they should do - find a suitable alternative fuel, make it wort...

Re: Camber out / outer edge tyre

From what mjb said above, the only chance of changing camber seems to be by undoing the lower arm bolts, (hopefully it's got enough play in it) set the camber & tighten it all up again. So have you all concluded that outer edge tyre wear can be stopped by 'tracking' even if, the camber is reported ...

Re: Possible Fuel Leak

After changing the C5's fuel filter, I ended up with diesel pissing everywhere. Not just dripping, but trickling onto the floor. Took several attempts at closing it properly, starting with hand-tight, then as tight as I could get it with hands before I ended up taking a screwdriver and hamme...

Re: RH dipped beam no current

Haynes manual has a diagram of the "passenger" fusebox (on the drivers side) which bears NO relation to the fuses in my 406 apart from the top row. Try looking at it upside down or back-to-front. Seriously... I think I've pulled out every 10A fuse in the passenger and engine compartment and ...

Re: Anyone have a spare 'plip' key?

If you have or can get the 4-digit key code and have access to PP2000 (well, same interface, different software - "Lexia"), you should be able to do what I intend to try with the missus' C5 which doesn't have a spare remote key: Get key(s), with new blades cut to match the locks Go to the immobilise...
