If you can get it done any cheaper, then I'd say lose the lot. Cat's, EGR's, DPF's. All nasty pointless things that limit the engine's performance and lifespan.
IMHO of course..

Re: Remap Query - To Cat Or Not?
That guide isn't what you want to do, I purchased the exact car that had that fitted and after a couple of months did the proper decat with a bit of straight pipe in to replace the cat. Saw good gains over just the empty cat. But bear in mind the car was running 165BHP at the time, so I'd have seen ...

Re: Petrol Vs Diesel - instrument panel fit issue
I've done this in a 2001 306HDi, albeit the other way around and it worked correctly. I.e. petrol clocks in a diesel.
Not all that helpful I know, but I'd say it's probably fine

Re: Have any of you ever changed your PAS fluid?
The only time I'd ever change the PAS fluid would be if the engine were to need to come out. But I'm lazy.
Some manufacturers don't specify a change interval, others suggest as often as every 30k..

Decat definitely. It makes such a difference to the responsiveness and feel of the engine.

Re: No brake lights
I'd be consulting the wiring diagram, and checking continuity to eliminate the possibility of there being a break in a wire somewhere.

Re: Auto lights doing my head in!!
So it appears I've fixed it! Some pikey had bridged the sidelights to the main beam, melting the wiring. Rewired and it works! I got all the way to work and the lights were still on. The true test will be my journey to Southampton on Friday. I'd still like to have the auto lights permanently disable...

Re: Getting harder to start
Try replacing the fuel filter first and foremost. If that doesn't help, then I'd start by cleaning the FPR, followed by checking/swapping the crank sensor for a known good one. Also check the battery, it's worth doing with winter approaching

Re: Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick - ( Hopefully not Boom ) !!
You really don't want the belt to come off, I've had this happen to my 306, in Lyon of all places. Oh, and it was on the main road in a tunnel at rush hour. Anyway, it's no big job, as long as you have the correct tools (really good breaker bar and an assistant, some scaffold tube may be required) s...
