Re: 2.1 intermittent misfire/knocking

With regards to the pump timing, isn't there a procedure involving removing a bolt at the front of the pump and inserting a rod of some kind? I was thinking that maybe the timing is off ever so slightly and is operating just outside of the sensors parameters at certain times. I'm probably talking r...

Re: Cost of this job

It's not just the bearings in the pully that go but the needle bearings in the ally housing part as well, it's these that make the belt run off to one side as the hole thing runs out of true.

Re: 2.1 intermittent misfire/knocking

You can't do anything with the static timing on the Lucas, there is no adjustment, it's all done electroicly.
It's woth checking the wireing to the green sensor as the fault is intermitant.

Re: 2.1 intermittent misfire/knocking

Until you get the temp problem sorted turn the A/C on when it gets hot, this will bring the fans on and reduce the chance of overheating.

Re: pug 406 starting and running problem (help)

Are there any bubbles going into the filter ? if there is then it could be the primer bulb is perished and sucking in air, or any of the joints in the pipework between tank and filter. if there isn't then it's most likely to be the base gasket on the filter housing, but could also be the filter seal...

Re: lucas to bosch fuel pump change. anyone please??

That looks to be the right one, just check with the seller that the car has no EGR. Thats a good price as the injectors cost more than that to get them recoditioned, see if he will mark the pump to braket position and chuck the braket in as well it'll save you a lot of bother setting the pump timing...

Read this

but use the Lucas pump bracket (after swaping the studs over to the other holes) and you can still use the cambelt cover.

Re: lucas to bosch fuel pump change. anyone please??

Just cought up on this thread and you have made a few errors, In the picture you posted of the fuel lines they are right, the 406 pump is not good for this convertion (I know I tried this in the past and you will never get the timming right), too much electronic stuff, swap it for one from a 405/ear...

Re: pug 406 starting and running problem (help)

I agree with Garry, air in the system will course you problems, where are to bubbles, in the fuel in line (to the pump) or return line (from the pump), if it's the in line the first thing to do is change the fuel filter, if it's still happening you need to look at the filter houseing and tank strain...

Re: Fuel consumption on a 2.1td

The 2.1 wont run well if you have an air leak as the Lucas epic hates air,
this could well be your problem,
track down the air leak and see how it runs after that.

Re: 2.1 intermittent misfire/knocking

Hi Marty Just to give you some background on the Lucas EPIC pump, The timing is controled by the ECU so can't be setup manualy, the ECU takes signals from a coolent sensor, needle lift sensor in an injector and (for some reason) two sensors for boost pressure, inside the pump are some electronic val...

Re: bio fuel,

It should be fine on well made bio, but not that many commersal places sell good bio,
poorly converted fuel and high soap content are a common problem with forcort bio, both will course an HDI problems.
