Re: Happy New Year
Yeah HNY and all that bs... not a great year for me. No babies, no new cars, close relatives passing... 2018 can't be worse.

For Sale: Polo 1.4 TDI
Apologies - non-Pug related but my good lady friend is selling her Polo, which is actually a pretty nice car. It hasn't had any issues that I know of (and she usually moans about any little mishaps!). Recent new MOT. https://www.gumtree.com/p/volkswagen/volkswagen-polo-se-tdi-pd-1.4-80-/1276597059 L...

The worst things are bikes - push and motorised variety. They simply BLIND me every time... day and night.
Fuckwits.

Re: Car in garage
Tis done. £630 labour... 2 days. But at least it won't need much beyond an oil change for the next 100k miles, which might take a while with my sub 10k miles a year driving.

Re: Car in garage
Love the total vagueness of the memo. Just like anything government related.... Well, a VIN code, or even a reg number should tell them on their fancy compooter but given that some earlier 407s weren't even fitted with DPFs, would that make them exempt overall? Same with 406s but it's a mix again - ...

Re: Car in garage
Ouch, that's reassuringly expensive. Quite. I was shocked to find how much cheaper 2.0 HDI versions of the same parts were  And 406 stuff is peanuts - relatively speaking. I really can't see how anyone's going to tell what's in your DPF. I think I could tell from he diagnostics, but ...

Re: Car in garage
Yeah, pump is there as well to be replaced. My issue with this car is that there are a lot of scare stories about DPF tests on new MOTs, as I've had mine gutted (as it was tinkling me off) and remapped. I don't want them to start pointing fingers at me but this is a "friendly, local garage" that I h...

Car in garage
Hiya chaps - long time, no visit. My 407 is in for its major service. Mainly through need, rather than preventative. Recently the DMF has been making a horrible rattling noise, mainly at idling and setting off/reversing. Won't be long till it disintegrates. The clutch itself is, annoyingly, still fi...

Re: My brush with the general public (car park ding)
This is why I prefer unevolved animals, such as cats, as opposed to evolved one (us). I have a really nasty ding on my door - months after getting them all removed. Fking twats.

Re: Time to move on again?
You hit the nail on the head there, Welly... That's exactly what it's like. People moan at how "useless" GPs are but I see it from the other side of the service counter and it's not pretty.
People are major alpha holes.

Re: Time to move on again?
Do it. If you don't enjoy your current role and you don't make a change, you'll start regretting it. As others said, there's no such thing as a job for life. My wife is a GP. She has now handed her notice in and is thinking about quitting medicine altogether because of *immense* pressures from patie...

Re: Time For Change
It's not a ratbag, but a long way from pristine, poverty spec, something like 150k miles, needing tyres & MOT. Best guess is about 2.5k minimum to get it going versus potential value of not much over 4k. Apart from all that, he's had to buy something else for transport. Is that the same one that wa...
