Rear parcel shelf swap?

Wondered if anyone has successfully swapped, or knows if it is possible to swap, the rear parcel shelf out of a D8 saloon to a D9 saloon and vice a versa? Always liked having the rear window sunshade on my D8 and, now I am moving to a D9, (Both are GLX trim saloon models) would love to hang onto it....

D8 wheels on a D9 car - which wheel nuts?

Was looking to swap the wheels from my, soon to be retired D8 2.0 GLX to my recently acquired D9 2.0 HDi 110. just prefer the style of the old to the new. Having read here about the compatibility of all wheels (except for cars with the Brembo brakes) I decided to go ahead today. Double checked all t...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Ok - got the bonnet up. Clip is present on the throttle cable but further investigation revealed the cable to be a slack as yer grannies drawers! I took the clip off and took up the tension in the cable, just before the point where there was a perceptible change in the idle speed and replaced both p...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Interesting and heartening to hear everyone's comments - thanks chaps. As contradictory as this may sound, it would be good to believe there may be something just 'not happening' by trufflehunt » Mon May 08, 2017 10:23 am Was going to say..., as said already, I think...., that in acceleration, on th...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Thanks Highlander. All the paperwork suggests it is a 110. Ran the RAC data check and it states under the 'Engine power' that it is '109bhp' - is that not a 110? Wondered if there is a remap for the 110 and is it worth the effort and cost. Think the main disappointment is probably down to the way it...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Thanks Ben. Drove it back today and made it home, eventually. I don't know if it is the fact it is a diesel, or an automatic - probably more the latter - but have to say it is a bit of a disappointment after years with the 2.0 petrol. I am aware it is underpowered compared to it but wasn't aware how...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Well, been away last few days and just catching up here now. Been reading and absorbing some very good points made. And to just read A tank of fuel is £75 and it's not hard to do 450miles with it. The only downside is the cambelt but you can find some reliable people on the coupe forum that make it ...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

So, update.... Went back today for a second test drive. Unfortunately, had to go alone as my mechanic friend has taken poorly. As it turned out, I am glad I didn't waste his time. Took the car out again, this time solo. Bearing in mind all the kindly advice given here, and despite trying to drive it...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Thanks, Ginger Magic. Car was billed as 'One Lady Owner' (not my words, btw!) - service book has 12 stamps in it from new, last service was April 2015 at 117k. Now at 131k. Could be, as you say, that the niggly faults and jobs just got ignored as they probably didn't affect passing the MOT. Or could...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Highlander, thanks a million for the thoroughly comprehensive reply - invaluable! The non functioning bits and bobs I can attend to. My life with my GLX was a constant voyage of discovery and repair, so am prepared to get involved fixin' stuff! Wonder if the Coupe wing mirror motor parts are the sam...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Thanks, Doggy. As I said, I'm going back again for a second look tomorrow and will take it for another drive - this time with feeling! Would that be indicative of poor state of DPF then? No sign of a warning light showing. Then again, I wouldn't be familiar with the symbol - or is a message on the d...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

.... so, went to have a look today. Went armed with a print out of the 'what to look for when buying a coupe' check list from the Coupe Club forum (muchly appreciated!) A list of what I managed to find wasn't working or not too great 1. drivers electric mirror not working (nearside ok). Plastic trim...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Thanks again, Highlander, for the additional info. Much appreciated. Having now read further about DPF (and their problems) I am now feeling a bit anxious about opting for a diesel. This is compounded further in light of the imminent, proposed government 'Diesel Scrappage' scheme. Perhaps my fears a...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Thank you, Peter. I, too, had high hopes of my 2.0 GLX reaching the 250k mark and I believe it still would, were it not for the bodywork and other repair issues that prohibit it from getting passed its MOT. Great shame as it has been a good (and faithful!) vehicle but the cost of repair is prohibiti...

Re: End of the road ?? Or a new start...

Many thanks, Highlander, for the (very) informative reply. Certainly not 'rambling nonsense' - far from it - very, very helpful! Reassuring to hear your comment regards the mileage and, I agree wholeheartedly about good, regular maintenance. My current GLX always had a religious oil/filter change ev...
